Responsibilities
  • Perform triage of all patients and ensure timely appointments as needed.
  • Perform EKG testing, nebulizer treatments, audiograms, visual acuity testing, and point-of-care testing.
  • Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens for transport.
  • Ensure requested tests, patient counseling, immunizations, and ordered treatments are carried out within the Licensed Vocational Nurse scope of practice.
  • Medicate patients as directed by providers.
  • Supervise follow-up activities such as consultation referrals and the results of tests and X-rays ordered by providers.
  • Provide clinical supervision of medical assistants as needed and assist with patient care when needed.
  • Assist practitioners with medical procedures as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with front-office, back-office, and medical department staff to ensure timely patient rooming, appropriate patient flow, and communication between the front and back office.
  • Participate in patient case management with providers and the Community Services department by providing education and information, completing necessary documentation, processing referrals, and assisting patients in scheduling clinic revisits.
  • Participate as a member of the Diabetes Care Team by attending regular meetings and providing necessary patient information from the Diabetic Registry.
  • Provide case management for Native American and Alaska Native diabetic patients, the CenCal SMART program, and other assigned patient panels.
  • Learn and maintain data entry in the electronic health record to record medical information.
  • Adhere to Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic practice guidelines and policies and procedures concerning Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, and other staff and patient safety issues.
  • Maintain working knowledge of programs including CHDP/Patient Assistance Program, Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, Family PACT, and Every Woman Counts.
  • Act as a liaison with Community Services when requesting Purchased Referred Care home visits as ordered by physicians.
  • Uphold a work environment that promotes teamwork, partnership, recognition, mutual respect, collaboration, and the organization’s stated values, behaviors, and culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Chumash Casino Resort launches annual 'Project Pink' to support breast cancer awareness. The Chumash Casino turned pink last week with blush-tinted sweets, officially launching its annual Project Pink campaign that aims to raise funds and awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout October, guests can find an array of pink-colored desserts, snacks and cocktails across the resorts eateries, with proceeds - matched dollar- for-dollar by the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Foundation - benefitting the Breast Imaging Center at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital. "Project Pink has grown into a meaningful annual tradition a the Chumash Casino Resort, thanks to the incredible dedication and passion of our Food and Beverage team," said Kenneth Kahn, Chumash tribal chairman. "We're honored to continue supporting the Breast Imaging Center at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, whose life-saving work impacts our community every single day." New treats this year include cherry blossom coconut cake, raspberry orange panna cotta, cherry limeade cupcakes, and chocolate raspberry cookies - joining returning favorites like red velvet cake, rosewater pistachio mousse, and whimsical chocolate molds shaped like high heels and purses. The month's featured drink, the Prickly Pear Margarita, adds a splash of color with its pink hue and notes of watermelon, kiwi and bubblegum. The campaign's proceeds will help the Goleta Valley hospital continue offering advanced diagnostic services such as 3D mammography, ultrasound screening and bone density scanning for early cancer detection. "We are grateful to be chosen for a second consecutive year as the beneficiary of the Chumash Foundation's Project Pink campaign, said Arie Dejong, vice president for Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital and Therapy Services.
