Requirements
  • BA/BS college degree, preferably in environmental studies, geology, engineering or compliance-related field
  • Minimum 8 years relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of business risk assessment approaches and compliance-based structures and programs
  • Extensive background in environmental due diligence, Phase I & II assessments
  • Strong working knowledge of regulations pertaining to multi-media environmental issues and associated liabilities
  • Knowledge of asbestos inspection and hazardous materials mitigation
  • Strong Project Management skills
Responsibilities
  • Manage budgets, consultants and contractors for environmental projects
  • Communicate with federal, provincial, or municipal regulatory personnel when necessary
  • Participate in various trade associations and industry groups
  • Act as a subject matter technical leader and program leader over corporate environmental initiatives including development of long-term strategy and short-term solutions to meet environmental obligations
  • Provide and develop partnerships within the company and across the corporation; serve as an internal resource
  • Provide strategic leadership to address emerging or changing regulation or changes in business lines; promote integration of corporate compliance/due diligence throughout the corporation
  • Develop and maintain environmental requirements and build cross-functional teams to meet property development program objectives
  • Collaborate with other teams to meet property development program objectives
  • Use risk assessment/compliance approaches to explore broader view of risk for Target Property Development and pre-emptively react to changing conditions in the post-recession real estate market
