Position Overview:
This position is responsible for assisting with the development and execution of supply chain strategies in accordance with best practices set by the department manager. The Procurement Supervisor will evaluate and set goals of assigned staff; providing mentorship, technical guidance, training and direction relating to short-term and long term priorities and activities in order to maximize departmental outcomes as well as staff personal growth and development. This role is also expected to possess a high degree of comprehension of the overall procurement process and commodities/categories being procured at the business unit level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise Purchasing staff in day-to-day procurement activities
Provide staff training as required
Execute periodic internal audits to ensure that purchasing processes and procedures are followed
Perform staff performance reviews and authorize time off requests
Conduct frequent staff meetings and encourage communication within the procurement team
Maintain, monitor, and/or adjust inventory levels to meet the needs of the business unit
Coach, motivate, and provide leadership to the procurement team
Develop and maintain professional relationships with key suppliers
Oversee supplier compliance function for the business unit including Master Supply and Non-Disclosure agreements in need of modification and/or renewal
Approve supplier invoice exceptions and expedite fees as required
Maintain IFS system maintenance within scope of responsibilities or as assigned
Coordinate, conduct, and participate in cross functional team meetings to investigate and recommend continuous process improvement and cost reductions
Provide guidance and assistance to internal customers and other procurement personnel
Possess a high degree of comprehension of the overall procurement process and commodities/categories being procured
Provide and develop statistical data/ targeted reports to support department cost reduction and continuous improvement goals
Perform other related duties as assigned by Manager of Procurement or Regional Procurement Manager
Collaborate with and contribute to Regional and National procurement objectives as assigned
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred or Certificate or Training in Management/Supervision
Three (3) to Five (5) years procurement experience
CPIM or CPM certification preferred
Procurement experience in manufacturing, preferably in an engineered to order environment
Experience in the development and negotiation of supplier agreement contracts
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work with changing demands in a fast paced environment
Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization
Knowledge of MS Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and ERP Software
Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks
Necessary to be a team player with the ability to work effectively with other departments on special projects as assigned
