Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) credential is required.
  • A Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US-accredited school of pharmacy is required.
  • An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located is required.
  • Zero to three years of prior relevant work experience is required.
  • The candidate must be a foreign graduate from a non-US-accredited college or school of pharmacy before beginning the training program.
  • The candidate must obtain pharmacist licensure in the state where the position is based within 120 days of completing US intern hours and complete the required US intern hours within 18 months.
  • The candidate must have strong communication and presentation skills.
  • The candidate must complete required training and obtain required licensure within the applicable guidelines.
  • The candidate must have regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, and a negligible amount regularly to move objects, including overhead lifting.
Responsibilities
  • Work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to support a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment.
  • Support patient safety, pharmacy professional practice, regulatory requirements, quality assurance, customer service, inventory management, and workflow management, excluding final prescription verification.
  • Manage patient care programs and apply pharmacy knowledge and skills to support healthy outcomes.
  • Support the pharmacy manager in motivating, inspiring, and developing pharmacy support staff by balancing assignments and addressing development opportunities.
  • Identify business opportunities and implement solutions to drive growth and improve pharmacy performance.
  • Lead the team toward specified goals and facilitate a caring, energetic, and professional team culture.
  • Greet customers courteously and professionally in the store and at the drive-through window.
  • Assist pharmacy and front-store customers with questions and concerns.
  • Answer the telephone with a warm and friendly greeting.
  • Request additional help and work with others to resolve issues and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Perform approved register transactions, including cash, check, and charge transactions, and bag merchandise after sales.
  • Maintain customer and patient confidentiality according to HIPAA and company standards.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws, rules, regulations, CVS policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to CVS workflow standards.
  • Process prescriptions by translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting and measuring drugs, capping and uncapping vials and bottles, and labeling prescriptions.
  • Resolve third-party rejections and complete manual claim forms.
  • Perform prescription pick-up procedures according to CVS policies and procedures.
  • Access, input, and retrieve necessary information using the workstation.
  • Maintain inventory in stock by following inventory-management procedures and using appropriate reports for replenishment.
  • Assist with putting away drug orders, except Schedule II drugs, as permitted by law.
  • Deliver additional healthcare services allowed by state regulation, individual certification, and pharmacy leadership, including point-of-care testing, swab-and-send testing, immunization preparation, and immunization delivery.
  • Support the supervising pharmacist in dispensing drugs, reviewing prescriptions, and monitoring compliance.
  • Offer counseling and direct customers to the pharmacist when necessary.
  • Field medical questions when appropriate and communicate with healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.
  • Obtain relevant medical history when applicable to provide appropriate medical advice.
  • Practice and develop pharmacist duties according to law.
  • Communicate with field management and corporate as needed.
  • Participate in required store operational meetings.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional pharmacy department.
  • Support scheduling activities according to business needs and the workflow model.
  • Coordinate and implement training and development for pharmacy support staff.
  • Complete all required training programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Eligibility to immunize.
  • Three to five years of prior relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Once state regulations are met, immunization is an essential pharmacist function.

AbbVie acquires Apogee Therapeutics for $10.9B amid pipeline expansion

CVS Health Q2 earnings beat expectations, partners with Eli Lilly on weight loss drugs
