Requirements
- Applicants must hold an NVQ Level 3 or above, such as Youth and Community, Social Work degree, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent.
- Significant experience in contextual safeguarding involving Child Sexual Exploitation, Child Criminal Exploitation, youth violence, and gang affiliation.
- A strong understanding of the PREVENT Strategy, Multi-Agency Child Exploitation panels, and Youth Justice.
- Knowledge of Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, or a commitment to learn it before undertaking the role.
- Experience managing missing children and understanding statutory reporting responsibilities.
- The ability to work under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines.
- This post requires a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Responsibilities
- Manage missing children.
- Conduct one-to-one preventative and intervention sessions that challenge attitudes and improve aspirations for young people at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation, Child Criminal Exploitation, and gang affiliation.
- Support cases alongside Social Workers in First Response, Children in Need, and Children Looked After teams.
- Safeguard hard-to-reach young people through an integrated contextual safeguarding approach to youth violence and vulnerability.
- Share intelligence with multi-agency partners.
- Influence care planning through skilled interventions.
- Manage a small caseload.
