About this position at Lightspeed LA
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, passionate, creative and technical Senior Sound Designer to join our in-house audio team and help create world-class audio on a new and exciting open-world AAA game.
We are seeking someone who will bring passion to the role, collaborating with sound and other disciplinary teams, creating sonically rich, high-quality AAA audio. Your primary focus will be on sound design, sound systems and implementation. Below is an outline of responsibilities and some of the qualities we look for in the ideal teammate.
Responsibilities
- Design, edit, mix, master and implement immersive, next-gen audio content and systems to engage players and enrich game narrative with the goal to raise the bar in game audio.
- Create and edit new sound effects and record real-world sounds using various recording techniques, professional audio editing tools, plug-ins, hardware and props both in the field and in the studio.
- Implement and author interactive, real-time sound using middleware, scripting tools and/or in-engine to bring soundscapes to life.
- Collaborate with audio engineers, other sound designers and departments to design and document audio systems, own and deliver on audio features.
- Sound design and mix cinematic audio content to blend seamlessly with gameplay audio.
Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications
- Understand emotion and tension in storytelling, and be able to design immersive, narrative-driven audio.
- 5+ years of professional experience in AAA game audio with a minimum of one AAA title shipped as Senior Sound Designer or equivalent.
- Proficiency in at least one DAW (preferably Nuendo or Reaper, with ProTools as a secondary option)
- Imaginative and creative use of audio production tools, foley performance and capture, props, and recording techniques to create high quality original content.
- Expertise in interactive audio, sound design, recording and post production techniques.
- Understanding of, and experience in creating and authoring real-time, parameter-controlled sounds such as vehicle engines, weather systems, ambiences.
- Proven experience with the Wwise middleware tool (or proficiency in similar middleware).
- A grasp of logic and simple scripting methods for interactive audio implementation within a game engine.
- Experience working with other departments and understanding their workflow.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working on environmental audio, sound propagation and 3D audio
- Familiarity and experience with the Unreal Engine.
- Experience with music editing and implementation of interactive music.
- Experience with dialogue/VO editing, mastering, implementation and localization.

CaliforniaThe base pay range for this position in the state(s) above is $84,000 to $204,460 per year. Actual pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as other medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the specific position offered.
