Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program in the professional's home country or country of practice.
  • At least 5 years of related work experience.
Responsibilities
  • Function as a Lead or Senior Engineer.
  • Perform energy optimization, power system coordination and arc flash hazard analysis, and electrical reliability analysis studies.
  • Conduct construction inspections and resolve electrical construction issues.
  • Coordinate with local electrical utilities on project technical needs.
  • Review supplier submittals.
  • Act as a liaison between the local design team, client, and remote design teams for instrumentation and controls design.
  • Start up and test major electrical equipment.
  • Lead electrical design for water and wastewater projects as additional project opportunities arise.
  • Provide technical guidance on client standards and expectations to engineering and technician staff in regional design centers supporting detailed project design.
  • Serve as the technical expert in electrical power distribution and miscellaneous plant electrical systems for client consultations.
  • Support business development related to enhanced electrical services.
  • Build business relationships with clients to understand their needs and drivers.
  • Remain current on departmental design guides, standards, applicable engineering codes, and company policies and procedures.
  • Apply the company's quality program requirements and support continuous improvement and change-management efforts.
  • Prepare complex engineering deliverables, research equipment and materials, develop recommendations, and prepare engineering calculations.
  • Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and adapt engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Review lower-level engineering work or assignments.
  • Oversee the collection, assimilation, and management of engineering data, lead smaller production teams, or serve as the responsible charge for a project.
  • Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.
  • Identify key client interests and drivers, communicate them to project team members, and develop approaches to accommodate them.
  • Support business-development or pursuit activities.
  • Design complete projects of moderately complex scope within assigned practice areas.
  • Assist with performance management, mentoring, recognition, and required corrective actions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Five or more years of experience in electrical design, planning, and construction services.
  • Consulting and water/wastewater experience.
  • Experience with medium- and low-voltage power distribution equipment, including variable-frequency drives and standby diesel generators.
  • Understanding of programmable logic controller hardware and software setup, network configuration, human-machine interfaces, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and fiber-optic cabling.
  • Experience in a client-facing or business-development role.
  • Power-system analysis experience using SKM, ETAP, or other analysis software.
