  • The candidate must have a demonstrated record of sourcing, developing, negotiating, and closing complex franchise development opportunities with senior franchise partners and investors.
  • The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a comprehensive multi-year strategy and execution roadmap to achieve franchise sales objectives.
  • Establish the international sales process from lead generation through grand openings.
  • Develop and execute strategies to identify and evaluate franchise opportunities in key international markets.
  • Lead market research and analysis of target demographics, competitive landscapes, and market trends for franchise development initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with prospective franchise partners, developers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, operations, and marketing teams to develop international franchise models, agreements, and support systems or products.
  • Lead the development, negotiation, and execution of franchise and master franchise agreements.
  • Build strategic partnerships with qualified franchise operators and investors in complex international markets.
  • Monitor industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging franchise-development trends to inform business strategies.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership on franchise-development activities, performance metrics, and growth opportunities.
  • Share domestic department and franchise-development best practices with master franchisees across the international business units.
  • Support growth of existing franchise partners and secure growth across the brands.
  • Partner with Brand Presidents to shape brand-specific development strategies aligned with broader expansion goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align functions and apply an ROI-driven approach to international expansion decisions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proven experience with master franchise or master license sales in complex international markets.
  • Franchise-industry experience with multi-unit, multi-country franchise businesses.
  • Experience in quick-service restaurants, restaurants, retail, hospitality, fitness, wellness, or other consumer franchise businesses.
  • Experience across multiple international regions, particularly Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Central Asia, or other developing markets.
  • Experience working with teams and clients from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience within the health, wellness, or fitness industry.

Orangetheory Fitness enters Italian market with smaller studio format and Technogym partnership

Orangetheory Fitness is entering Italy for the first time, with Icon Palestre securing franchise rights to open four studios in the greater Rome metro area over the next four years. The expansion is part of Purpose Brands' international growth strategy following recent launches in Japan and the Gulf Cooperation Council. The Rome locations will feature a new smaller studio format with streamlined equipment, enabling growth in areas with limited real estate whilst reducing upfront capital costs for franchisees. Italian fitness manufacturer Technogym will supply a portion of the strength equipment. Purpose Brands, which owns Orangetheory and Anytime Fitness among other wellness brands, generates $3.9 billion in revenue and operates across 46 countries with six million members.

Orangetheory Fitness to expand to 100 studios in Japan over next decade

Orangetheory Fitness has announced plans to expand to over 100 studios in Japan over the next decade through a renewed partnership with ITS Co., Ltd. The regional master franchisor, Orangetheory Japan Co., Ltd., signed a 10-year renewal agreement to establish 86 new studios by 2034. The expansion builds on Orangetheory's decade-long presence in Japan, with initial openings planned for Tokyo and surrounding areas including Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama, extending to Nagoya. Orangetheory Fitness is part of Purpose Brands' portfolio and currently operates over 1,300 studios across more than 20 countries globally. The partnership reflects strong confidence in the brand's growth potential in Japan's competitive fitness landscape, where studio fitness has gained popularity over the past decade.
