We are seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team. As an Engineering Manager at Lightspark, you will play a pivotal role in leading and inspiring our engineering teams to develop cutting-edge payments solutions while maintaining the highest standards of scale and quality. You’ll be responsible for fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, overseeing project delivery, and driving excellence in engineering practices.
You will be managing and leading our Fiat Platform team, which is responsible for developing and scaling the systems that enable Lightspark and its customers to connect to the TradFi rails.
What you’ll be doing:
Build a new team that will operate our licenses and connect Lightspark to traditional financial rails
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Set and maintain high standards for engineering practices and code quality.
Foster cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other teams to ensure the successful delivery of features and products.
Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering teams.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support career development for team members.
Participate in the hiring process, including interviewing and selecting top engineering talent.
Maintain clear and open lines of communication within the engineering teams and with stakeholders.
While the position is a management role, we are looking for someone who is technical and not afraid to dive into the code if needed. We are a startup!
What we’re looking for:
6+ years experience in software engineering, including hands-on backend coding experience
3+ years experience in people management role, preferably in an early stage software development environment
Experience in payments systems (ledgers, bank integrations, transaction monitoring, card networks, etc.)
Experience hiring, developing and growing diverse teams
Experience facilitating team development through effective coaching, mentorship, as well as fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance
Proficient in one or more programming languages (Python, Java, C/C++, etc.).
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire engineering teams to deliver high-quality results.
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in software development and recruitment
Ability to work onsite in our offices in Culver City or willing to relocate
