Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Sr. Principal Database Engineer (CAD/PLM) located in Northridge, CA. Job Summary:
The Sr. Principal Database (CAD/PLM) Engineer leverages engineering design/documentation/analysis and wide range of PLM experience to directly support the Mechanical Engineering department. Will directly support Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) initiatives related to engineering tools, process and people development. The candidate will work with existing CAD/PLM Engineer to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of engineering tools and exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of the assignment.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide direct training and development of CAD/PLM SMEs
Direct support in all future state CAD-PLM initiatives contributing to success
Maturation of digital thread between engineering and manufacturing through implementation of model-based definition (MBD)
Engineering CAD/PLM tools development and overall system health
Documentation of engineering and downstream use cases
Ongoing validation and testing of CAD/PLM tool functionality
Creation of training/best practice documentation and training deployment
Provide site CAD/PLM administrative subject matter expert (SME) user support
Develop/update sector processes for CAD/PLM
CAD and documentation support as assigned
Basic Qualifications: Sr. Principal Engineer:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree and 8 years of related experience; a Master of Science and & 6 years, OR 13 years related experience in lieu of degree.
Experience in Engineering design, analysis, and CAD/PLM leadership.
Experience working with Teamcenter, Creo, NX (or equivalent PDM/PLM and CAD/CAE applications).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance prior to the commencement of employment, and ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience developing Electo/Mechanical CAD designs with emphasis on the end-to-end process from conceptual development to release.
Experience working in the context of an Agile/Scrum environment.
Communicates effectively and clearly presents technical approaches and recommendations.
Active Security Clearance.
You will be accountable for:
Supporting a wide array of Design and Development needs within Engineering
Working with the different functions and stakeholders to understand the business processes relevant for PLM and translate these different processes into requirements for the PLM tool.
Actively contributing to the implementation and embedding of the PLM capability
Providing expertise on the PLM processes and systems
Being the point of escalation for end user support in all things CAD/PLM
Providing education to users and develop process documentation
Building up expertise on how product data are reflected in the PLM tool and how these data are being used for the different processes related to PLM
Act as a process expert on PLM to drive continuous improvement in capability, quality, and lean effective processes
Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities:
Critical knowledge:
Solid understanding of functional systems and data management
Knowledge of Agile development & Operational Excellence
Literate in Data and Analytics, understand how to structure and analyze data.
Engineering design, development and release of product within a change management system
Critical experience:
Experience in the relevant Engineering and Manufacturing collaboration
Enterprise Global CAD/PLM leadership
Supporting large Engineering data migration and validation efforts
Project management and team leadership experience is an advantage
Working in a multi-cultural and complex matrix organization
Functional experience in the use of systems is a requirement
Delivering training to users, translating concepts and system usage in business language
Functional experience in the use of ERP systems

Analytical thinker, effectively breaks down complex problems into simple steps
Translate business language into process and system functional concepts
Team player with effective communication skills
Influencing skills - develops relationships with stakeholders with ability to drive sector business outcomes

Salary Range for the on-site position in Northridge, CA. is:
$133,000 - $166,300 - 199,600
Salary Range for the remote position is:
$121,000 - $151,200 - $181,400

Salary Range: $133,000.00 - $199,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
