Intermountain Health Cedar City Hospital has once again been named one of the top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals in the nation. This marks the 11th consecutive time - all years since the award's inception - that the National Rural Health Association has recognized Intermountain's Cedar City facility. "Being named one of the nation's Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals by the NRHA for the 11th consecutive time is an extraordinary honor, and to be the only hospital to achieve that milestone is deeply meaningful to our caregivers and to the community we are proud to serve," said Jamison Robinett, president of Intermountain Health Cedar City Hospital, in a news release. "Rural communities need the same level of excellence in care close to home and this award affirms our dedication to delivering safe, affordable, and patient-centered care." As previously reported, the hospital recently celebrated the grand opening of a newly expanded emergency department and molecular imaging services center. "This expansion demonstrates what we're all about, and that is to keep individuals from Iron County and the surrounding communities in Iron County," Robinett said at the March 18 ceremony. "That is our North Star, and that will forever be what we strive to do here." The association announced the 20 top rural and community hospitals in the nation based on an evaluation conducted by the Chartis Center for Rural Health. Hospitals are assessed using the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, one of the most comprehensive and objective tools for measuring rural hospital performance. Hospitals are also evaluated across several key areas, including quality of care, patient outcomes, patient perspective, affordability of care and financial performance. This recognition highlights hospitals that are delivering strong clinical outcomes while responsibly managing resources. "This award reflects the dedication and commitment of our caregivers and providers to the care and wellbeing of Iron County and the surrounding communities," said Dr. Jarid Gray, M.D., chief medical officer of Intermountain Health Cedar City Hospital. "The fact that we have achieved this status for 11 consecutive years is reflective of our commitment to excellence and compassionate care that is central to our mission." The Chartis Center for Rural Health evaluates rural and critical access hospitals using publicly available data, focusing on market performance, value-based outcomes and financial stewardship. Intermountain Health Cedar City Hospital is one of two Intermountain Health facilities nationwide named to the Top 20 list this year. The other Intermountain Health hospital is Intermountain Health Sevier Valley Hospital.

Intermountain Health unveils renovated diabetes and endocrinology clinic. Posted 8:39 PM, Apr 07, 2026 and last updated 8:52 PM, Apr 07, 2026 BILLINGS - Intermountain Health has renovated its diabetes and endocrinology clinic, revealing the finished project in a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday afternoon. The hospital told MTN that the renovations were funded through donors Steve and Debbie Reger and Tom and Maree Ryan. The hospital renamed the clinic the Reger-Ryan Diabetes and Weight Management Center. Renovations included expanding the conference room, remodeling the exercise room, adding several education rooms and increasing the number of exam rooms from 19 to 31. The hospital also lowered examination tables for patient convenience. According to Intermountain Health diabetologist Dr. Justen Rudolph, the hospital could hire up to five new healthcare providers in the center soon. "We continue to expand the number of providers. That means office space, but we had literally run out of space to see patients," said Rudolph. He said it is a necessary addition as the demand for care rises. "We're actually a pretty healthy state compared to the rest of the nation. But we're seeing increases in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes across the country, our state included," he added. The hospital chose to not disclose the costs of the renovations.

Intermountain Cedar City Hospital ribbon cutting2 min read. By May Hunter, For Iron County Today Intermountain Health Cedar City Hospital recently unveiled its newly expanded Emergency Department and Molecular Imaging Center, significantly enhancing access to life-saving care for the community. The hospital hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community open house to showcase the expansion, which is designed to improve access to care for local residents and surrounding areas. The new Emergency Department greatly expands the hospital's ability to deliver critical, life-saving services at its Level IV Trauma Center. This expansion supports the growing needs of nearby communities, as well as the millions of tourists and outdoor enthusiasts who visit the region's national parks and recreation areas each year. The 4,500-square-foot, $7 million expansion adds nine new emergency rooms, bringing the total to 22 rooms. This includes three rooms dedicated to patients with behavioral health needs. The increased capacity allows more patients to receive timely care close to home. "Our emergency department expansion and the remodel of our Molecular Imaging suite - including the addition of advanced PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine technologies - reinforce our commitment to exceptional, patient-centered care," said Jamison Robinett. "These investments allow us to provide faster, more accurate diagnostics and a more seamless experience for every patient who walks through our doors. By broadening the services available at our hospital, we're ensuring our community has access to the highest level of care close to home, delivered in a space designed for comfort, efficiency, and healing." In 2025, Intermountain Cedar City Hospital recorded more than 21,000 Emergency Department visits, while the imaging department completed over 57,000 procedures. "This expansion represents the first major addition to Intermountain Cedar City Hospital since 2006," Robinett added. "It aligns with our commitment to providing high-quality care close to home for the residents of this region." Nearly a year after construction began, the Emergency Department expansion officially opened on Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house. The project nearly doubles the size of the original emergency room and will play a key role in supporting the continued growth of Cedar City and surrounding communities.
