Requirements
  • An Associate of Applied Science degree in a Psychology or Sociology field and 2-3 years of recent Psychiatric Technician experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or a minimum of two years of Registered Nurse nursing school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the nursing care of mentally ill patients by implementing psychiatric treatment plans for groups of patients, including group interventions.
  • Deliver health care services to patients and their families according to the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
  • Independently implement the interdisciplinary treatment plan for an assigned group of patients, including group interventions.
  • Revise and modify treatment plans in response to patient changes and alterations in the therapeutic approach, and participate in planning conferences.
  • Integrate multidisciplinary approaches to complete patient assessments and coordinate health care services across the continuum.
  • Develop health care interventions using problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Participate in therapeutic activities such as role playing, behavior modification, modeling, and reality orientation.
  • Collaborate with patients, family members, and the interdisciplinary treatment team to deliver quality services.
  • Participate in ongoing staff development programs, workshops, and seminars.
  • Implement orientation and training for peer staff development, including the orientation and training of new Psychiatric Technicians.
  • Participate in unit-based research and quality improvement involving data collection and documentation of patient and family services.
  • Record relevant data and report it to appropriate staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by a Registered Nurse.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Services is preferred.
