About the Role

Trailstone is looking for a Short-Term Trading Manager to join us on-site in our Austin, Texas office. The selected candidate will operate under the direct supervision of the Head of North America Power Trading. In the early months of this role, this individual will be responsible for hiring and managing a team of 2 to 3 short-term traders. This position will play a pivotal role in developing and supporting our renewable asset management business. 

This will be a full-time position, owning the following responsibilities:

• Lead, manage and develop the Short-term Trading team in accordance with our growth plan for 2024 and beyond, overseeing onboarding and providing thorough training materials.
• Develop and implement short-term trading strategies in areas such as ERCOT, PJM, SPP, MISO, CAISO, NE-ISO, NY-ISO.
• Monitor power markets to identify and capitalize on trading opportunities.
• Manage and mitigate risk associated with short-term trading activities.
• Collaborate with analytical and other trading teams to calibrate and improve our power flow models and enhance their value on trading decisions.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.

About You

The successful candidate will be a primary contributor to risk management and portfolio optimization in our proprietary trading activities. As such, we are looking for somebody with the following attributes and tangible experience:

Essential Qualifications:

• Over 5 years of experience in the energy industry with short-term trading experience.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, capable of managing and mentoring a team.

Set Yourself Apart with:

• A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline; e.g Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Finance or Engineering.
• Coding skills with SQL and Python. 
• Experience with renewable generation.
