Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university and 3 years of quality assurance or inspection experience appropriate to the manufacture of motors and generators; or an associate degree (AA/AS) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and 10 years of relevant quality assurance or inspection experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Training and experience with problem-solving tools, statistical techniques for process control and monitoring, trend analysis, and design of experiments.
  • Ability to analyze contracts and proposals to determine actions necessary to comply with customer quality requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering designs, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with customer and contractual requirements.
  • Ability to establish appropriate inspection and testing equipment and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of problem-solving techniques and statistical methods for process control and design of experiments.
  • Proficiency with personal-computer-based tools used to prepare procedures and instructions, develop descriptive statistics, and access business and engineering systems.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, Six Sigma, continuous process improvement, lean manufacturing, 6S, process optimization, predictive modeling, process capability, PFMEA, product development, and metrology applications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to prepare reports, manuals, correspondence, and other technical documentation.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management and other audiences.
  • Strong understanding of algebra and trigonometry.

  • Ability to interpret technical instructions presented in mathematical or diagram form and work with both abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk and hear; frequent climbing or balancing and occasional sitting are also required.
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in an environment with vibration, moving mechanical parts, possible fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, electrical hazards, and usually loud noise.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and take ownership of assigned projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
  • Review and approve procedures, work instructions, and forms supporting the Quality System.
  • Participate in the Contract Review and Amendment process to ensure customer quality requirements are identified and met.
  • Participate in Design Review activities.
  • Prepare and maintain Quality Plans for manufactured and repaired products based on quality system, design, and customer requirements.
  • Perform supplier assessments and support administration of the Approved Supplier Listing.
  • Review purchase orders to ensure appropriate quality requirements are communicated to suppliers.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in establishing and maintaining Process Control Specifications, instructions, and standards.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding inspection and testing of products at specified stages of production.
  • Verify quality characteristics including dimensions, materials, mechanical properties, electrical characteristics, and performance parameters.
  • Establish programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production, testing, measurement, and analytical equipment.
  • Develop inspection and testing methods, tooling, and related calibration requirements.
  • Review dispositions of nonconforming material and assign responsibility codes.
  • Lead process improvement teams addressing quality deficiencies requiring corrective or preventive action.
  • Establish requirements for and participate in the preparation, review, and maintenance of Quality Records.
  • Serve as a lead auditor for supplier and internal quality audit programs.
  • Review and approve quality-control training materials.
  • Provide guidance and conduct training sessions related to quality control activities.
  • Develop and implement statistical procedures for acceptance sampling, problem analysis, and design of experiments.
  • Apply statistical techniques and problem-solving tools to investigate and resolve quality issues.
  • Direct product team activities involving measurement, testing, and analysis of materials, products, and processes.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Candidates should have or be able to obtain ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and ASQ Certified Quality Auditor credentials.
  • Candidates should have or be able to obtain ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence credentials.
  • Candidates should have or be able to obtain ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate credentials.
  • Candidates should have or be able to obtain ASQ Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt credentials.
  • Candidates should have or be able to obtain ASQ Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt credentials.
