Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degrees
  • Or Calculus-based STEM bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Or Professional Engineer license
  • Plus at least 2 years’ relevant experience (Electrical Engineer II Pulsed Power)
  • Or Master’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Plus at least 5 years’ relevant experience (Electrical Senior Engineer Pulsed Power)
  • Or Master’s and PhD degree in electrical engineering
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age
  • Pre-employment drug test and background review with checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, employment/education verifications; federal background investigation; counterintelligence evaluation may be required
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DOE security clearance are required
Responsibilities
  • Assist in installation, troubleshooting, and testing of pulsed power systems (Electrical Engineer I Pulsed Power)
  • Support circuit modeling and data manipulation with guidance
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers on basic modeling tasks
  • Apply standard procedures and techniques to assigned projects
  • Participate in documentation, reporting, and inter-department coordination
  • Contribute to entry-level project work
  • Serve as a member of technical teams
  • Independently install and test pulsed power systems (Electrical Engineer II Pulsed Power)
  • Develop circuit models and write scripts to support analysis
  • Prepare technical designs and contribute to proposals
  • Lead moderately complex tasks within engineering discipline
  • Define specifications and initiate procurements
  • Interface with vendors and internal teams
  • Support planning and reporting activities
  • Lead complex pulsed power system installation and testing (Electrical Senior Engineer Pulsed Power)
  • Independently develop advanced circuit models and simulation tools
  • Mentor early career staff and interns
  • Represent technical work in meetings and conferences
  • Develop high-fidelity predictive models
  • Drive coordination across technical teams
  • Author technical publications and institutional reports
