Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering
  • Strong Java development skills
  • Proficiency working with data systems and pipelines such as Beam
  • Clear communicator, both in code and in writing, and bring a collaborative spirit to technical planning
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - ability to leverage SQL, Jenkins, and Python to analyze data for operational insights
  • Strong familiarity with databases, data modeling, and performance optimization
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operate our foundational data-heavy services: storage (cloud data warehouse, data lake), orchestration (Jenkins), batch/stream processing (Apache Beam - Dataflow), streaming services (Pub/Sub)
  • Engage with product managers and engineers from downstream teams to architect, build, and maintain data systems to enable new product features and capabilities
  • Design and build services for end-to-end data security and data observability: managing access controls across multiple storage and access layers, tracking data quality, cataloging datasets and their lineage
  • Work with our stakeholders to push innovation across Xpanse and Palo Alto Networks
Desired Qualifications
  • Have expertise with any of the following: BigQuery, PostgreSQL, BigTable, BigQuery, Apache Beam, database profiling, Terraform
  • Have experience using and enhancing CI/CD systems
  • Cyber security experience
