Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in educational technology, learning sciences, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • A strong technical or information technology background with experience utilizing learning management systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 AA standards and best practices in usability, universal design strategies, and accessibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
  • Proven capability to safely vet, install, test, and maintain Learning Tools Interoperability integrations and plugins within the primary Canvas learning management system environment.
  • Highly effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Project management skills, including attention to detail and timelines.
  • Ability to apply problem-solving skills, perform analysis, and seek solutions for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and integrate educational technology innovations into online courses.
  • Consult directly with instructional staff regarding instructional technology needs, including learning and operationalizing the use of native tools and Learning Tools Interoperability integrations.
  • Develop, build, and improve course sites and templates in consultation with lead faculty to prepare them for course launch.
  • Apply knowledge of web accessibility requirements, including Americans with Disabilities Act Section 508, World Wide Web Consortium standards, video accessibility, and closed captioning, to online learning experiences.
  • Research and recommend course technologies and tools to the learning design team and campus partners in relation to identified pedagogical use cases.
  • Review courses for quality, usability, and accessibility using a provided rubric.
  • Troubleshoot enterprise technology and support faculty with technical software issues that may arise.
  • Explore, evaluate, recommend, and support learning technologies that enhance online instruction and foster learner success.
  • Conduct research and development of emerging instructional technologies and quality assurance reviews for online courses.
Desired Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience providing academic support as an instructional technologist or equivalent, preferably in a college or university environment.
