Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct construction safety experience and 3 years of experience in the design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety disciplines is required.
  • A degree in engineering and/or a safety-related field is required.
  • Knowledge of process safety management methods, pressure systems, and chemical delivery systems is required.
  • Experience with emergency response communication and incident management involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction safety standards is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee safety operations across Austin, Dallas, and Houston, Texas.
  • Perform hazard assessments and address employees' safety concerns and issues.
  • Strategize with site leaders to prevent and reduce injuries.
  • Ensure environmental compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain compliance with regulations and guidelines established by Texas Health and Safety Codes, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the National Fire Protection Association, and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Execute industrial hygiene studies to analyze manufacturing byproducts against associated human health thresholds.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and implement machine guarding when needed.
  • Complete and maintain documented safety observations from regular hazard identification audits.
  • Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases to determine root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
  • Develop safety solutions to resolve environmental, health, and safety hazards and concerns within cost and schedule constraints, following the safety order of precedence: elimination, substitution, engineering controls, work practice controls, training, and personal protective equipment.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
Desired Qualifications
  • OSHA 511 and/or OSHA 501 certification is highly preferred.
