Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction, Architecture, Engineering, Planning or a closely related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in construction management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working in dynamic environments around guest or facility activity
Responsibilities
  • Manage the activities of construction projects
  • Demonstrate knowledge of principles, techniques, materials, and equipment used in building construction
  • Coordinate projects for Orange County Departments and Divisions from project design to project delivery
  • Assist in the development of project planning, proposals, cost estimates, and budgets
  • Facilitate the design phase with the development of scope, managing consultants and end users, and providing effective and proficient reviews of project documentation
  • Manage and monitor progress of construction services
  • Prepare construction observation reports relating to all aspects of construction project activities
  • Ensure that projects relative to new facilities and renovations of existing buildings of the County Government are completed as contracted and as desired
  • Perform administrative management of projects including the bidding phase
  • Employ effective document control measures for project information, communications, and documentation
  • Understand project cost estimating for budget, change order review, negotiation, and implementation
  • Mitigate and resolve disputes between end users, design consultants, and contractors arising from the performance of the work as described in the contract documents
  • Interpret plans and specifications as needed
  • Make visits to work sites to monitor progress and quality of construction
  • Provide technical management of projects including assessment of needs, development and evaluation of project plans and specifications
  • Conduct quality control activities in accordance with instructions, inspection programs, using specified control measuring and testing equipment
  • Conduct historical data research for effective project planning
  • Coordinate and assist in the development of presentations for project management proposals and status updates
  • On-site project management and coordination duties around convention activity which may include periodic night and weekend shifts
  • Review Contractor/Vendor pay applications to ensure they are accurate to reflect work agreed on for time period
  • Provide guidance to the Assistant Project Managers, Construction Projects Coordinators, and Capital Planning personnel
  • Interact directly with citizens for specific projects and attend public meetings related to the project
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
