Head of Architecture

Key Responsibilities

Modernization and new Architecture design:

• Develop and execute scalable architecture strategy across all products and platforms.

• Be at the front of architecture of new product designs and modernizations across the product lines

• Establish a forward-looking architecture roadmap that integrates cloud-native designs, machine learning, and other emerging technologies.

Standardize and Govern System Design:

• Create and enforce architecture principles, patterns, and best practices to ensure robust, secure, and consistent system design. 

• Lead regular architecture reviews to validatestability, scalability, security, and alignment with business goals.

Cloud Architecture and Optimization:

• Experience in cloud migration as well as designing and implementation of cloud native products in any of three public clouds (AWS, GCP or Azure)

• Leverage cloud-native services, including serverless computing, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), to enhance performance and scalability.

Optimize Cross-Product Integration:

• Streamline technology across the product ecosystem, ensuring efficient data sharing, modularityand reuse

• Understand the value of interoperability across a large portfolio of products, lead and developloosely coupled design to implement interoperability at scale

AI and Emerging Technology Leadership:

• While this role is notintended to be a data scientist, it is expected that the candidate must understand AI/ML as an engineer and identify opportunities to leverage AI/ML, across products.

• Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge tools, frameworks, and platforms to modernize the tech stack while driving innovation.

• Partner with data science teams to align AI initiatives with product strategy and business needs.

Lead and Mentor Architectural Excellence:

• Lead a team of architects by influence. Lead, fostering technical mastery and collaboration.

• Mentor engineering teams on adopting new technologies, ensuring smooth transitions and knowledge sharing.

Collaborate with Stakeholders:

• Partner with engineering, product, and leadership teams to align technical decisions with strategic objectives.

• Partner with architects across ResMed, build and foster relationships to drive standards, reuse and adoption across the larger enterprise

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

Leadership and Communication Skills:

• Good communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting technical strategies to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work across multiple product lines and across enterprise

• Strong decision-making ability, balancing technical trade-offs with business priorities.

• Ability to build, lead, and mentor high-performing architecture teams by influence

Multi-Product Expertise:

• Demonstrated ability to manage architectural strategies for companies with multiple business verticals and products, ensuring design and operational consistencies, scalability, modularity, and cross-product integration.

Systems Design:

• Strong background in designing and operatinghighly scalable, reliable, and secure systems, including microservices, event-driven architectures, and APIs

Emerging Technology:

• Hands-on experience evaluating, adopting, and integrating emerging technologies like LLM, serverless computing, microservicesand  container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
