Requirements
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise nursing assistants in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards and facility requirements.
  • Possess, at minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited college or university or graduate from an approved Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse program.
  • Possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English; read technical procedures and policy and procedure manuals; present information and respond to questions from managers and employees; and communicate information concerning residents’ conditions.
  • Apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Provide care appropriate to residents’ age-related needs and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
  • Possess knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures and of laws, regulations, and guidelines applicable to nursing care facilities.
  • Possess leadership and supervisory ability and be willing to supervise other personnel.
  • Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary to provide quality care.
  • Possess current CPR certification and maintain required continuing education and licensing.
  • Remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Move intermittently throughout the workday and push, pull, move, or lift at least 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and distance of 50 feet.
  • Meet the facility’s general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination, and assist with resident evacuation during emergencies when necessary.
Responsibilities
  • Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants and ensure nursing personnel comply with facility policies, procedures, job descriptions, and applicable regulations.
  • Review department policies, procedure manuals, and job descriptions and recommend revisions.
  • Plan shift services, programs, activities, and work assignments with nursing and support personnel.
  • Maintain current nursing service procedures and ensure personnel follow them.
  • Prepare required written and oral shift reports and recommendations.
  • Coordinate nursing services with resident services and other departments.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, facility inspections, discharge planning, and government-agency surveys.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents and complete associated forms, reports, census records, charge slips, and documentation.
  • Protect facility information systems, user credentials, and residents’ protected health information and report suspected unauthorized access or disclosures.
  • Complete admission, transfer, discharge, accident, incident, and routine medical-record documentation.
  • Receive and record physician telephone orders, transcribe orders, chart nurses’ notes, record diet changes, and report discrepancies.
  • Prepare and administer physician-ordered medications and treatments, verify resident identity, maintain medication and narcotic records, order supplies, and dispose of drugs and narcotics according to procedure.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine shift staffing needs, recommend personnel actions, report absences, and provide leadership to assigned nursing personnel.
  • Make daily rounds, monitor work assignments and nursing standards, and report problem areas to the Nurse Supervisor.
  • Ensure nursing assistants and trainees meet applicable training and supervision requirements.
  • Meet regularly with nursing personnel to identify and correct problems and improve services.
  • Receive and give nursing reports at the beginning and end of shifts and report occupational exposures, fraud, and safety or security incidents.
  • Inform staff about admissions, prepare rooms, orient residents and families, make physician rounds, arrange diagnostic and therapeutic services, and coordinate resident care.
  • Review charts, treatment orders, medications, diets, care plans, and resident status; provide or oversee prescribed treatments and direct nursing care.
  • Perform nursing services including catheterization, tube feedings, suctioning, dressing changes, colostomy and drainage-bag care, blood collection, range-of-motion exercises, specimen collection, vital-sign measurement, and monitoring of seriously ill residents.
  • Notify physicians and next of kin of accidents, incidents, and changes in residents’ conditions.
  • Carry out restorative and rehabilitative programs and coordinate social and activity programs with nursing schedules.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary nursing areas and enforce hand hygiene, infection-control, safety, emergency-drill, and personal-protective-equipment procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain medication, medical-supply, and equipment stock; recommend needs; and ensure safe, authorized, and efficient equipment use.
  • Review resident care plans daily, communicate needed changes, ensure documentation reflects care-plan adherence, and coordinate MDS, RAP, and trigger updates.
  • Develop and conduct in-service training, orient new employees, standardize work methods, train personnel on blood and body-fluid exposure tasks, and participate in continuing education.
  • Arrange transportation and escorts for discharged residents, inform families of resident deaths, contact funeral homes when requested, and follow post-mortem procedures.
  • Provide requested data to the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee.

PACS Group beats Q1 estimates with $0.50 EPS and $1.42B revenue despite 12.5% year-to-date stock decline

PACS Group acquires Alaska care facility, plans 150-bed skilled nursing centre by 2028

PACS Group has acquired Ridgeway Senior Living, a post-acute care facility in Anchorage, Alaska, marking its fourth property in the state. PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. PACS Group, a leading post-acute healthcare platform, has appointed Dr Patrick Conway to its board of directors. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
