Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required.
  • The employee must pass a pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • The employee must maintain a valid driver's license and any endorsements required for the position.
  • The employee must pass a pre-employment Department of Transportation physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • The employee must pass and maintain a Department of Transportation medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle.
  • The employee must successfully complete and maintain required safety certification and testing annually.
  • The employee must be able to walk on uneven surfaces for up to one-half mile.
  • The employee must maintain balance for an extended period while the train is in motion.
  • The employee must follow verbal commands and remain aware of surroundings while exposed to moderately loud daily noise.
  • The employee must work in a confined access or space environment with a width of 24 inches.
  • The employee must adapt to temperature extremes, including heat, cold, moisture, and wind.
  • The employee must regularly sit and stand for extended periods.
  • The employee must tolerate repetitive bending and overhead-reaching movements.
  • The employee must regularly push or pull a force of 25 pounds.
  • The employee must regularly ascend and descend a platform up to 18 inches from the floor.
  • The employee must pass color and vision examinations required by the position.
  • The employee must hear and distinguish auditory signals required by the position.
  • The employee must be able to work in a safety-sensitive environment.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are required.
Responsibilities
  • Instruct operators on policies and procedures and monitor on-time performance using Microsoft Office, Genetec Cameras, SCADA, and Swiftly.
  • Respond directly to emergency incidents, including accident and incident scenes, and investigate and prepare detailed reports.
  • Administer post-accident, reasonable-cause, and random drug and alcohol tests.
  • Perform onboard riding checks to evaluate the safe operation of the streetcar.
  • Inspect passenger stations and facilities to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
  • Observe overhead catenary system infrastructure, poles, and tracks and report their conditions.
  • Throw switches and flag streetcars.
  • Prepare written reports concerning rules violations.
  • Review operator reports and payroll.
  • Review digital recordings as necessary and provide daily activity reports.
  • Assist with labor-related disputes, including grievances.
  • Administer labor-agreement provisions within the scope of authority.
  • Communicate with other Herzog departments and the agency.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with assigned special projects.
  • Interact with customers and non-customers and provide information as requested.
  • Investigate customer service complaints in a timely manner.
  • Participate in and promote Herzog's culture and essential behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Education at the college level is considered a plus.
  • Supervisory experience is considered a plus.
  • Rail transportation operations and supervision experience is considered a plus.
