Requirements
  • A current license by the State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse is required.
  • Must be able to lead and motivate subordinates.
  • Must be able to perform duties involving frequent change in the work schedule.
  • Must be able to work closely with residents, physicians, and staff.
  • Must be capable of working to prescribed nursing standards.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills and an interest in providing service.
Responsibilities
  • Receive reports on patient and resident status from the previous shift and communicate status to the oncoming shift.
  • Make physical rounds in the assigned area, assess quality of care, intervene with care provision, and interact with caregivers and patients or residents.
  • Provide direct nursing care, assess conditions, communicate with attending physicians or practitioners, and carry out nursing functions according to patient and resident needs.
  • Assist in establishing individualized plans of care in accordance with physician orders.
  • Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team.
  • Accurately document patient and resident conditions, assessments, communications, and care provided.
  • Provide or supervise care such as medication administration, nursing care, documentation, treatments, and related services.
  • Evaluate the performance of nurses, nursing assistants, and trained medication aides; coach and discipline as needed.
  • Assess and monitor whether patient and resident needs are met and whether policies and procedures are followed.
  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate actions when needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Assist with Continuous Quality Improvement Program initiatives.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed.
  • Communicate empathetically with families, patients, and residents about changes in condition and care concerns, and ensure resident rights are respected.
  • Travel to any center within the region or company.
  • Work overtime, including shifts of up to double shifts.

  • Experience in a long-term care setting is preferred.
