Requirements
  • Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided: WV: Licensed Respiratory Therapist Registered (LRTR) through the West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care
  • Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist(RPSGT) through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists within two (2) years of hire.
  • Certification in CPR.
  • One (1) year of Polysomnographic experience.
Responsibilities
  • Performs high-quality polysomnograms
  • Utilizes proper testing montages to detect abnormal sleep architecture, EEG/EKG abnormalities, abnormal respiratory events, and low oximetry
  • Performs equipment pre- and post-testing including impedance check and calibrations and records in patient's permanent record
  • Obtains consent for Video Taping, Filming and/or Photography and Polysomnogram
  • Completes Pre- and Post-sleep Questionnaires
  • Document history of the patient's sleep problems and documentation for each procedure
  • Detect sleep hygiene problems and record appropriately
  • Charts clinical notes for interpretation by physician regarding action taken and any comfort measures provided during sleep testing
  • Records an event log with chronological documentation of patient interaction during sleep testing
  • Labels, files, and stores medical data and test results according to Policy/Procedure in Sleep Center Manual
Desired Qualifications
  • Current certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
  • Clinical Sleep Educator Certificate from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists
  • One (1) year of Sleep Study scoring experience
