Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least ten years of experience in the healthcare construction industry overseeing ground-up hospital, medical clinic, facility, and laboratory upfit projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • A Construction Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30-hour card obtained within the last five years or the ability to renew it.
  • International Infection Control Risk Assessment certification and familiarity with local government entities.
  • Proficiency in project reporting software, Microsoft Office, and blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, airflow standards, and quality standards.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites.
  • Proven knowledge of commercial building and construction and related sectors.
  • Experience running all aspects of large commercial projects from inception through profitable completion, including ground-up projects, interior renovations, finish work, relocation, and replacement work on projects valued at $2 million or more.
  • A valid Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30-hour card must be maintained while working on company projects, with recertification every five years.
  • A minimum high school diploma is required; a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or an associate's degree from a vocational school is beneficial.
  • Five to ten years of on-the-job experience.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Ability to communicate with team members, project management, customers, subcontractors, and construction management.
  • Basic computer knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office and Procore software.
  • Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to supervise and lead teams, schedule and supervise multitask work, work extended hours and night shifts, and perform the stated construction-site physical activities, including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing stairs, ladders, and personnel hoists.
Responsibilities
  • Enforce Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements, company safety plans, policies, project procedures, work rules, and other safety-program requirements.
  • Supervise the field construction effort to complete projects according to design, budget, schedule, and customer objectives.
  • Conduct weekly on-site meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and other relevant parties regarding schedule, safety, and field performance.
  • Supervise and ensure worker health and safety by enforcing company, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Prepare and distribute daily superintendent reports, safety reports, and other field reports in a timely manner.
  • Complete punch-list items within the customer's requirements and project budget using Procore for punch-list management.
  • Monitor and direct subcontractor progress and ensure adequate manpower to meet the project schedule and customer expectations.
  • Prepare subcontractor work schedules and provide input to the Project Manager on project construction schedules and updates.
  • Verify layouts, check subcontractor layouts, and establish initial control lines and grades.
  • Respond to subcontractor questions about project documents and work, provide documentation, and coordinate with the Construction Manager.
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, including logistics, means and methods, bid and scope reviews, and project estimates.
  • Maintain an up-to-date set of contract documents on site.
  • Ensure subcontractors maintain record drawings and red-line as-built drawings during construction.
  • Organize, establish, and maintain the on-site field office.
  • Communicate with the Construction Manager about financial issues, safety, construction progress, labor issues, material problems, quality, and code issues.
  • Coordinate and work with Project Managers and other personnel.
  • Manage, oversee, train, and mentor other superintendent levels.
  • Collaborate with other superintendents assigned to larger project teams.
  • Continue education in Occupational Safety and Health Administration and safety, means and methods, codes, management skills, and new technology.
  • Maintain current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the permit process in applicable communities and communicate changes to the office.
  • Ensure overall jobsite cleanliness to company standards.
