Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree and demonstrated understanding of the game at the collegiate level.
  • Cultural competence and effective communication skills.
  • The ability to recruit, teach, and coach highly talented student-athletes who can succeed in a challenging academic environment.
  • Experience using video breakdown, analysis, and analytics to improve team performance.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Ability to comply with NCAA Division III regulations, Landmark Conference rules, and Lycoming College policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Organize and conduct practices, conditioning programs, and competitive events.
  • Instruct student-athletes in sound principles and expert skills related to women's basketball, prepare individual athletes and the team for games, set season goals, and motivate students using appropriate techniques.
  • Participate in fundraising through the Warrior Club program and fundraising accounts while adhering to College policies and NCAA legislation.
  • Know and abide by NCAA Division III regulations and Landmark Conference rules and successfully complete the annual NCAA open-book rules test.
  • Comply with the Lycoming College Athletic Training handbook and cooperate with athletic trainers to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services.
  • Model integrity, respect, and good sportsmanship and hold student-athletes accountable for the same behavior.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Athletic Communications to promote the women's basketball program and assist the Head Coach in creating a social media presence for recruiting and alumni purposes.
  • Respond to media requests through the Office of Athletic Communications in a professional manner consistent with the mission of Lycoming College.
  • Attend departmental meetings, communicate regularly with the Head Coach, and contribute to the athletics program.
  • Promote the women's basketball team, the overall athletic program, and Lycoming College with team alumni, parents, and community members.
  • Recruit student-athletes who meet the College's admission requirements, can contribute to the team, and will add positively to the student body.
  • Submit and discuss with the Head Coach an annual recruitment plan addressing program needs and recruiting efforts.
  • Represent the College at admission open houses and other events involving prospective students.
  • Monitor student-athletes' academic success and collaborate with faculty, the Assistant Dean for Freshmen, and other personnel to promote academic success.
  • Support the academic development of student-athletes through graduation.
  • Submit a resume, cover letter, and the names and contact information for three professional references, including a description of understanding of coaching in a liberal arts environment.
