Requirements
  • A minimum of 2–5 years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing complex electrical systems, including three-phase wiring, generators, and lighting, in commercial buildings such as offices, retail spaces, and factories.
  • Proficiency with tools and equipment, including ladders.
  • Ability to read blueprints, plans, and diagrams.
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Comfort using mobile devices such as cellphones and tablets for work orders.
  • Demonstrated experience performing general repairs, including painting, carpentry, and plumbing, in commercial settings.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and maintain focus in a client-facing environment.
  • Ability to travel frequently between sites and customer locations.
  • A current valid driver’s license is required.
  • Physical ability to walk jobsites in uneven terrain.
  • Ability to respond to off-hour emergency calls.
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles and equipment with appropriate Department of Motor Vehicles clearance and required training.
  • Ability to follow established processes, respond quickly to requests, and complete tasks within targeted time frames to minimize risks to buildings and high-value equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain positive and professional working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Respond to customer requests for service.
  • Enhance tenant and customer satisfaction through the manner in which work is performed and services are delivered.
  • Drive and operate the company vehicle with its GPS tracking system in compliance with BGIS fleet policy and safety requirements.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities at various facilities, driving between different sites as needed.
  • Complete work according to established processes and practices.
  • Comply with environmental, health, safety, and fire-protection requirements.
  • Observe facility and systems conditions and deficiencies and provide recommendations for enhancement and repair.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building systems.
  • Respond to routine and on-demand service requests and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems, including patching and painting walls, hand painting, repairing doors, and replacing light ballasts.
  • Record resolution data in the service maintenance management database and ensure completed work meets quality and contract response requirements.
  • Receive, track, monitor, and report the status of maintenance and repair work in the service maintenance management database.
  • Initiate documents to authorize or obtain formal approval for required work.
  • Assist in implementing the preventive maintenance program.
  • Identify, record, and escalate deficiencies and maintain related documentation.
  • Participate in facility-related projects.
  • Maintain assigned tools and arrange for repair or replacement as required.
  • Submit expenditures in a timely manner.

Veritas Capital to acquire facilities manager BGIS. July 17, 2026 | John McNulty Veritas Capital has agreed to acquire BGIS from CCMP Capital Advisors and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo). BGIS runs and maintains buildings and facilities - offices, data centers, and government, healthcare, and industrial sites - for large public and private organizations, handling the engineering, operations, and technology that keep those properties running, a service known in the industry as technical integrated facilities management (IFM). The company oversees more than 65,000 facilities totaling over 620 million square feet globally with a team of more than 12,000. Gord Hicks continues as chief executive officer and will lead the business with his management team. CCMP and AIMCo had backed BGIS since 2019. Veritas Capital, a technology investor focused on companies operating at the intersection of technology and government, manages over $54 billion in assets. James Dimitri, partner and co-head of flagship private equity at Veritas, led the transaction for the firm.
