Summary:
The Center for Leadership & Community Engagement (CLCE) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Marketing Student Coordinator to support the promotion of programs, events, and initiatives that connect leadership development and community engagement at American University. The Marketing Student Coordinator will assist with digital and print communications, ensuring CLCE’s work is visible and engaging to the AU community.
Responsibilities:
1.) Newsletter Development
Draft, design, and distribute CLCE’s monthly newsletter.
Collect stories, highlights, and updates from staff and student leaders to showcase impact.
2.) Social Media Content
Create engaging and inclusive social media content for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), and Facebook.
Develop a content calendar and monitor analytics to increase reach and engagement.
3.) Graphic Design and Promotion
Design flyers, graphics, and promotional materials for CLCE programs and events.
Maintain visual branding consistency across all platforms and materials.
4.) Event Marketing
Support outreach strategies to promote events across campus (tabling, digital boards, etc.).
Capture photos and videos during programs to use in marketing and storytelling efforts.
5.) Engage and GivePulse Updates
Update the CLCE Engage page and GivePulse platform with current program information.
Ensure event descriptions and community engagement opportunities are accurate and visually engaging.
6.) Creative Storytelling
Highlight student and community partner stories through digital spotlights, testimonials, and features.
Brainstorm innovative ways to share CLCE’s impact with the AU community.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-Time
Student.
4 hours per week (hours are flexible around the student’s academic schedule).
Hybrid schedule that includes both in-office and remote work.
The position includes a weekly check-in with the supervisor and a monthly meeting with the CLCE team.
Salary Range:
Stipend: $1,200 a semester (this semester $800 due to start time).
Required Education and Experience:
Current undergraduate or graduate student at American University.
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook) and interest in content creation.
Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design tools.
Detail-oriented, organized, creative, and able to manage multiple projects at once.
Familiar with marketing and/or communications plan.
Interest in leadership development, community engagement, and civic engagement is a plus.
