Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited Ophthalmology residency program.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology.
  • Current, unrestricted North Carolina medical license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration registration or eligibility.
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills in ophthalmology.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems and ophthalmic technology.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a wide range of ophthalmologic conditions affecting vision and eye health.
  • Provide comprehensive eye care services, including routine examinations, disease management, and surgical care as credentialed.
  • Perform ophthalmic procedures and surgeries consistent with training and experience.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive eye care.
  • Coordinate care with optometrists, primary care providers, and medical or surgical specialists.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in call coverage and emergency consultations as required.
  • Adhere to evidence-based clinical guidelines, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and departmental meetings.
