Responsibilities
  • Own Starlink consumer hardware from conceptual design through high-volume production and public launch
  • Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization
  • Test and iterate on products to enable high field reliability and performance in all environments and use cases
  • Design and develop the production lines that manufacture your product, including robot end effector design, process development, control system design, automation programming, and more
  • Refine the production system to create high-rate, high-yield, and reliable processes
  • Establish an efficient product lifecycle starting in the supply chain all the way through final integration that balances cost, complexity, and quality; work closely with partner teams to design and realize an efficient in-house production line
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis
  • 2+ years of hands-on project experience with complex mechanical systems, preferably as a team lead
  • Proficient in 3D CAD (NX preferred)
  • Solid understanding and application of GD&T, mechanical engineering fundamentals, structural analysis, and failure modes of complex mechanical systems
  • Prior ownership of a complex component or assembly from initial design through high-volume production ramp
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and how to design for manufacturability
  • Exposure to some variety of production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment (motion systems, dispense systems, temperature controllers, laser distance sensors, injection molders, die casters, etc.)
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as necessary to support critical milestones

SpaceX designs, builds, and launches rockets and spacecraft for government and commercial customers, using reusable first stages to cut costs. Its Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy recover their boosters to enable rapid reuse, while Dragon transports cargo and crew to the International Space Station. Starlink operates a satellite internet constellation to provide global broadband coverage. It earns revenue from launches and merchandise, with the broader goal of making space travel cheaper and, over time, enabling human life on other planets and expanding global internet access.

Following its public debut on 12 June, SpaceX stock briefly reached a $3 trillion valuation before correcting 42% from its all-time high. The company currently holds a $1.5 trillion market capitalisation. SpaceX operates three segments: Space, with 650 total launches and 80% global market share in mass to orbit; Connectivity, with 12 million Starlink subscribers; and Artificial Intelligence, launched in 2023. All three operating segments showed healthy growth during the quarter.

SpaceX signs $6.7B cloud deal to monetise AI infrastructure buildout

SpaceX has secured a $6.7 billion cloud-services contract, with a six-month ramp beginning in October 2026. The deal provides visibility into how quickly the company can monetise its AI infrastructure investments. Second-quarter AI revenues surged 247.5% year over year to $2.56 billion, with $1.60 billion coming from new cloud-services agreements.
