DP World marks 20 Years of transforming trade and driving growth in Peru.

DP World marks 20 Years of transforming trade and driving growth in Peru. Posted on August 17, 2026 CALLAO, PERU | AUGUST 13, 2026 - DP World is marking 20 years of operations at the Port of Callao, reflecting two decades of investment that have expanded capacity, strengthened Peru's trade connectivity and positioned Callao among the leading port terminals in South America. Since beginning operations in 2006, DP World has invested approximately US$ 1 billion in expanding port infrastructure, modernizing equipment, and introducing advanced technology that has significantly increased the terminal's capacity and productivity. Over the past two decades, DP World has handled more than 22 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). In 2025 alone, the terminal surpassed 2 million TEUs for the first time - a volume that, just a decade ago represented the total annual throughput of all ports in Peru combined. Today, DP World's Callao terminal handles approximately 60% of Peru's containerized cargo, serving as the country's primary gateway for international trade and connecting Peruvian businesses through global shipping networks. Carlos Merino, CEO of DP World in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, said: "For 20 years, DP World has worked alongside our customers, employees, government partners and the wider logistics community to strengthen Peru's connection to global trade. Together, we've transformed Callao into a world-class gateway that supports businesses, creates jobs and helps position Peru for long-term economic growth." DP World continuously invests to ensure that the terminal keeps pace with the country's growing trade volumes. In 2024, the company completed a US$400 million expansion with the inauguration of the Bicentennial Pier, increasing annual capacity to 2.7 million TEUs while enabling the terminal to accommodate larger vessels and provide customers with greater efficiency and reliability. In 2025, Callao became the first terminal on South America's west coast to handle more than two million containers in a single year, marking another milestone in its continued growth and reinforcing its position as one of the region's most important trade gateways. Growing the Economy and Investing in Community The terminal connects Peru's key export industries with international markets. Between January and May of 2026, DP World in Callao handled 48% of Peru's exports and 61% of its imports, reinforcing the terminal's key role in the country's international trade. Major exports moving through the terminal include grapes, avocados and pomegranates, connecting Peruvian producers with key markets across Europe, North America and Asia. The company continues to invest in lower-emission equipment, terminal electrification and community initiatives that support more efficient and sustainable operations. Recent investments include 36 electric internal transfer vehicles (ITVs), Latin America's first dedicated port charging station for electric vehicles, and the electrification of nearly the terminal's entire yard crane fleet. In 2024, DP World became the first port terminal operator in Peru to receive the prestigious Peru Brand license. The license acknowledges the terminal's contributions to Peru's international trade in terms of its role promoting national exports and investments, and its alignment with the country's global image. Building the Next 20 Years Looking ahead, DP World is advancing plans for a proposed investment of more than US$1.3 billion to expand the South Terminal, which would further increase annual capacity to up to 4.3 million TEUs. The expansion would also enhance operational efficiency and include the construction of a 20.8-hectare off-dock staging area, further strengthening Peru's competitiveness as regional trade volumes continue to grow. "As Peru's trade continues to grow, we remain focused on the next 20 years, investing in the infrastructure and integrated supply chain solutions that will expand capacity, strengthen connectivity and support the country's next chapter of growth," added Merino.

DP World reaches key milestone in $800m Port of Tartous investment in Syria.

DP World reaches key milestone in $800m Port of Tartous investment in Syria. Three new cranes are expected to increase the Syrian port's cargo capacity by 40% Last updated: August 17, 2026 | 16:21 Dubai: DP World has reached a significant milestone in its US$800 million investment programme to transform the Port of Tartous, completing the delivery of three Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHCs) that will strengthen Syria's trade infrastructure and support the country's economic recovery. The three cranes are expected to increase the port's cargo-handling capacity by approximately 40 per cent, Dubai Media Office announced on Monday. The development comes as the Dubai-based ports and logistics company expands investment across its global network, despite disruption to trade flows in the Middle East. DP World reported a 13.1 per cent increase in revenue to $12.7 billion in the first half of 2026, up from $11.2 billion during the same period last year. SPONSORED LINKS BY PROJECT AGORA The company said last week that growth across its global ports, logistics and marine businesses helped offset lower activity at Jebel Ali following disruption to regional trade flows. Jebel Ali remains fully operational and suffered no physical damage, DP World said. However, the regional conflict has temporarily reduced vessel traffic through the port. The company has expanded inland connectivity and introduced other measures across its regional network to keep critical cargo moving. DP World plans two Fujairah terminals. DP World is also planning two new terminals in Fujairah under a 50-year concession. The terminals will extend the company's UAE gateway network beyond Jebel Ali and provide cargo owners with another route through the country. DP World said the terminals will be part of an integrated supply chain connected to the wider Jebel Ali ecosystem, giving customers more flexibility in moving goods through the UAE. $3 billion investment planned for 2026. DP World invested $1.5 billion across its global portfolio during the first half of 2026 and expects total capital expenditure to reach about $3 billion for the full year. Investment is being directed towards new capacity and trade infrastructure in markets including the UAE, UK, India, Saudi Arabia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. "Excluding Jebel Ali, Container volumes increased by 6.5 per cent on a like-for-like basis, and adjusted EBITDA increased by 9.7 per cent, with growth across Africa, Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe," said DP World Group CEO Yuvraj Narayan. "This performance reflects the strength of our global network and our ability to provide cargo owners with efficient end-to-end supply chain solutions." DP World revenue up 13% to $12.7B despite 86% drop in Jebel Ali traffic from Hormuz closure

DP World reported a 39% drop in net profit for the first half despite a 13% revenue increase to $12.7 billion, as the Strait of Hormuz closure severely impacted its flagship Jebel Ali port in Dubai. Container throughput at Jebel Ali plunged 86% in the second quarter to 374,000 TEUs, down from 2.7 million in the first quarter. The closure forced cargo rerouting through alternative UAE and regional ports. Growth across DP World's global network of over 60 ports helped mitigate losses from the Gulf conflict. The company remains confident displaced cargo will return, citing economic advantages. Alternative routes through ports like Fujairah and Khor Fakkan cost four to five times more including inland transport, a company official told Semafor. DP World expects 95% of volume to return once the strait fully reopens.

DP World reports resilient first half as revenues grow to $12.7bn.

DP World reports resilient first half as revenues grow to $12.7bn. DP World recorded a 13.1% revenue increase to $12.7bn in the first half of 2026, demonstrating global resilience amid regional trade disruptions. DP World Limited announced its financial and operational performance for the first half of 2026, demonstrating remarkable resilience across its global business. Revenue expanded by 13.1% to $12.7 billion, up from $11.2 billion in 1H 2025, supported by steady performance across Logistics, Marine Services, and international Ports and Terminals. Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) reached $2.9 billion, maintaining a healthy margin of 22.5%, despite trade flow challenges in the Middle East. Operational volume metrics across DP World's diversified global portfolio remained solid. During 1H 2026, the Group handled 42.8 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) on a gross basis. In the second quarter of 2026 alone, container terminals handled 20.6 million TEU. Although overall gross container volumes declined by 5.7% reported in 1H 2026 due to temporary shipping disruptions at Jebel Ali Port, the strength of the broader global network was evident. Excluding Jebel Ali, gross container volumes increased by 5.4% on a reported basis (6.5% like-for-like) in 1H 2026 and by 4.3% reported (6.0% like-for-like) in Q2 2026. Growth across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Americas successfully cushioned regional trade pressures. To mitigate regional routing headwinds and enhance long-term trade infrastructure, DP World continues to execute disciplined capital investments. The Group invested $1.5 billion in capital expenditure during the first six months, focusing on capacity expansions across key growth markets including the UK, India, DRC, Saudi Arabia, and Senegal. Capital deployment for the full year is projected at approximately $3 billion. Furthermore, DP World announced strategic expansion plans in the UAE to develop two new terminals in Fujairah under a 50-year concession, designed to complement Jebel Ali and strengthen regional supply chain resilience. Reflecting on the operational performance, DP World Group Chairman, H.E. Essa Kazim, commented: "DP World delivered a strong revenue performance and resilient EBITDA in the first half of 2026, despite significant disruption to trade flows across the Middle East. Revenue increased 13.1% to $12.7 billion, reflecting the strength and diversity of our global portfolio, the benefits of our integrated business model, and our ability to help cargo owners keep goods moving across international markets." Highlighting the momentum of the wider global platform, DP World Group CEO, Yuvraj Narayan, commented: "Excluding Jebel Ali, container volumes increased by 6.5% on a like-for-like basis and adjusted EBITDA increased by 9.7%, with growth across Africa, Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe. This performance reflects the strength of our global network and our ability to provide cargo owners with efficient end-to-end supply chain solutions." Looking forward, DP World maintains a strong balance sheet with $8.2 billion in total liquidity and solid operating cash flow of $2.0 billion, positioning the company to navigate market uncertainty while creating long-term value.
