Requirements
  • A degree in Biochemistry or a related field is required.
  • The candidate must be able to seek and obtain extramural funding, preferably federal funding.
  • Must be able to publish in high impact scientific journals in their respective field of research.
  • The faculty member will be responsible for teaching and mentoring of undergraduate, medical, and graduate students as well as postdoctoral and medical fellows.
  • Must be able to successfully establish and manage an independent research group.
Responsibilities
  • Director of 3D Prototyping and Biomaterials and responsible for developing new tools for researchers, surgeons and clinicians.
  • Develop biomaterials for researchers across the Miller School of Medicine and throughout the University.
  • Interface with clinicians and serve as the Director for Basic Research in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery.
  • Coordinate with faculty and research staff to ensure high-quality proposals are being submitted.
  • Position the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery to successfully compete for extramural funding with NIH, PCORI, PSF, and other agencies.
  • Assist faculty in developing research interests into tangible, sustainable projects that lead to local and national presentations, publication in peer-reviewed journals, and future funded research.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the University campus to foster growth and recognition of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, and University of Miami.
