Requirements
  • 10+ years of business development experience, preferably in a high-growth environment
  • 3+ years of experience leading a growing business development team, including managing senior level team members
  • Keen judgment and a willingness to say no to partnerships that don't align with our high standards
  • Deep knowledge of sales best practices and experience coaching others in developing and honing their skills
  • Demonstrated strategic approach and ability to see opportunities, challenges, and risks and put in place appropriate measures to take advantage of or mitigate them
  • Strong problem solving and quantitative analytical skills
  • Familiarity with the digital advertising industry
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, easily able to communicate effectively with all levels of stakeholders
  • Deep expertise navigating external customers and internal teams, experience working across functions, driving alignment and delivering results
  • Passion for building a business with a strong social mission at the intersection of private and public sectors
Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach and manage our business development team to achieve their goals to cultivate and close new business
  • Model superb judgment and empathy, maintaining Propel's high standards of partnership and the trust of the people who use our app
  • Establish goals and metrics to measure individual and team performance
  • Develop and own an ambitious hiring plan, growing the team 2-3X in the next year
  • Develop and implement a robust onboarding, learning and development program to support the team in reaching the next level of excellence
  • Develop and refine our strategy across verticals, channeling the team's talents towards the greatest impact
  • Develop and deliver business development reporting to leadership (pipeline forecasting, sales velocity, etc.)
  • Recognize and share opportunities and trends in the market and be fully knowledgeable about our industry to regularly communicate information to the General Manager and Executive Team
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Propel's products as well as business position and competition
  • Create a fun, exciting, high-service and accountable culture internally and externally
