Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • At least 2 years of post-degree experience working for a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering firm or architecture and engineering firm.
  • A Professional Engineer license; Engineer in Training certification will be considered.
  • Current and active National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying registration in good standing.
  • Proficiency with Revit.
  • Expertise in power, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, fire alarm, communications, and electronic security systems.
  • Proficiency with load demand calculations, one-line distribution development, load flow, short-circuit analysis, and arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Experience with SKM Powertools for Windows, Visual or AGI32, and other applicable tools.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and electrical calculations.
  • Ability to interpret scopes of work, bases of design, field surveys, and code research.
  • Ability to author technical documents, including bases of design narratives, design criteria documents, feasibility studies, condition assessment reports, engineering studies, and reports.
  • Ability to edit design specifications and respond to Requests for Information using project documents and specifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency.
Responsibilities
  • Support power, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, fire alarm, systems, and low-voltage engineering efforts.
  • Apply engineering knowledge, technical experience, project information, codes, and standards to implement design criteria.
  • Execute design duties and maintain design quality.
  • Serve as engineer of record from concept phase through construction documents and construction administration.
  • Design layouts for lighting, lighting controls, receptacles, equipment rooms, and equipment connections in coordination with project team members.
  • Prepare panelboard and equipment schedules.
  • Perform system calculations and size and select system components.
  • Review shop drawing submittals for compliance with applicable codes, project specifications, design documents, and criteria.
  • Travel to job sites to perform field verification.
  • Produce field reports and punch lists.
  • Read relevant project correspondence and maintain project design files.
  • Direct and mentor subordinate staff in their daily responsibilities and capability development.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with medium-voltage equipment systems.
  • Experience with healthcare facilities and central plant infrastructure, including generator plants and substations.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
