Requirements
  • Experience with design, analysis, and implementation of high-voltage substation projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV.
  • Hands-on experience with substation layout, equipment selection, protection and control systems, and integration with transmission and distribution systems.
  • Ability to collaborate across civil, structural, and protection engineering disciplines to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable designs that meet client and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and utility standards.
Responsibilities
  • Develop substation physical and electrical designs, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, general arrangements, grounding, conduit, and control schematics.
  • Prepare design drawings, technical specifications, and bill of materials for new and retrofit substation projects.
  • Conduct equipment selection and specify transformers, circuit breakers, switches, buswork, relays, and other substation components.
  • Collaborate with Protection & Control Engineers to integrate relaying and communication systems.
  • Perform load flow, short circuit, and grounding studies as needed.
  • Ensure all engineering deliverables meet NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and utility standards.
  • Coordinate with internal design teams, utilities, and contractors to ensure technical accuracy and constructability.
  • Participate in site visits to support design verification, construction, and commissioning.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, installation, and testing phases.
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, and documentation per client and company requirements.
