Job Description
Western Digital is seeking a responsible individual to fill the position of Manager, Maintenance Engineering at the San Jose, Great Oaks Campus reporting to the Director of Maintenance and Operations. The Great Oaks location is the Global Corporate Headquarters and contains a 24/7 semiconductor manufacturing plant. It is a critical resource in the supply of Hard Disk Drives to the global market.
The Manager of Maintenance Engineering will be responsible for the maintenance and operations related to the central utility plant, industrial wastewater plant, and the high voltage substation at the site to support semiconductor wafer manufacturing. This role requires strong understanding of the industrial facilities systems and organizational leadership. This team is responsible for the most critical infrastructure systems at the site. The successful candidate will oversee the more critical facility operations, manage staff, interface with Facilities Engineering on capital projects, and support regulatory agency audits. The goal of this important role is to ensure the company most critical systems are available to support the company’s business operations 24/7.
Western Digital’s Great Oaks Campus is located on 160 acres located in South San Jose, supporting Western Digital’s Headquarters, Research, Development, and Manufacturing. The campus consists of 15 buildings, 2.2 million square feet of Offices, Labs, Cleanrooms, manufacturing, and warehouse space. The Campus is a 7/24/365 operation.
The right candidate for this role will have prior experience in managing maintenance & operations programs for critical Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing infrastructure systems. The candidate must be an expert in time management, highly organized, and a great communicator. The ability to work well with people and organizations across all levels is very important. The candidate will serve as the Maintenance and Operations representative when interacting with members of other corporate real estate and workplace departments in collaborative projects.
Requirements
The Manager of Maintenance Engineering is responsible for the following programs:
- Maintenance and repair the central utility plant, industrial waste water plant, DI/RO plants, and 115KV electrical sub-station.
- Delivery of cost-effective site maintenance plans
- Preventive maintenance programs and administration of the Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Electrical distribution System consisting of a company-owned 115KV substation
- 8 Domestic water wells (190M gal/yr)
- Deionized Water production (120M gal/yr)
- Industrial Waste Water Treatment (130M gal/yr)
- Steam Generation (226 MMBTUH)
- Clean Dry Air Systems (10,000+ CFM)
- Chilled Water Plant Operations (13,000+ Tons)
Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or related discipline
- 10+ years experience in a facilities management position
- Able to read and understand complex electrical, mechanical and automation system diagrams
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Strong understanding of Preventative Maintenance, Total Predictive Maintenance, and Reliability Centered Maintenance systems
Candidate should have a good working knowledge of:
- Electrical Systems - High Voltage (69KV to 115KV), Medium Voltage (600V-69KV), and Low Voltage <600V
- Waste Water Treatment and general understanding of EPA and RCRA regulations
- RO/DI water
- Industrial level Mechanical and HVAC systems
