General Description

The purpose of this class is to assist in completing maintenance and repairs of equipment as they are assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class.  Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• Inventories Dickinson fuel levels.
• Maintains shop, equipment, and supplies.
• Picks up and disperses parts.
• Inventories liquids, oils, tools, and parts.
• Completes daily activity reports.
• Operates vehicles for testing purposes.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Requires three months of automotive maintenance experience or closely related experience.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.

The work is typically performed in a service center occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery and chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

Emergency Preparedness Tier Level:  3

Special Certifications and Licenses:

• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Requires a Texas vehicle state inspection license within 6 months of employment.
• Requires FEMA 100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications within 6 months of employment.
