Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Cosmetic Chemistry or related fields
  • A minimum of 7-10 years hands-on experience in product development (experience developing OTC products or Rx/pharmaceutical products a plus)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Ability to stay cool and calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
  • Lead R&D product development projects (Non-Rx with external partners and Rx with internal partners) from conception through development, and scale-up through commercialization to meet objectives for feasibility assessment, technical formulation, sensory validation, analytical testing, and shelf life evaluation
  • Partner cross-functionally with marketing, retail, operations, quality, and sourcing on new product innovation to ensure alignment and feasibility, and to optimize product design within launch timelines
  • Transfer technical knowledge to the manufacturing team and lead product scale up in a timely and rigorous manner
  • Partner externally with vendors, suppliers and co-packers and manage all aspects of the external formulation process including providing direction to contract fillers and 3rd party testing labs
  • Track milestones and communicate project risks to the Technical Project Manager in a timely manner
  • Work closely with the R&D Lab Manager to manage the weekly benchtop workload, and sample shipments based on launch priorities
  • Partner with Sourcing Manager to assess vendor performance and troubleshoot issues to drive continuous improvement
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior managerial experience is a plus
  • Regulatory background is a plus
