  • 5+ years of legal and/or compliance experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department and strong academic credentials, including a JD
  • Experience providing guidance on regulatory issues, particularly related to insurance or marketing
  • Familiarity with insurance or financial products, or have experience working with product teams in a consumer-facing environment
  • Superior written & verbal communication skills and a keen attention to detail
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure, work independently, and handle multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting time-sensitive deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Natural curiosity, with a desire to learn new areas of law
  • The ability to work collaboratively across various functions and with colleagues at all levels
Responsibilities
  • Advise on a variety of legal issues, particularly related to insurance regulatory issues
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to provide feedback and support regarding strategy and materials, policies, procedures, and trainings
  • Provide feedback to the Policygenius Pro B2B team to identify product and regulatory issues in advance of contracting
  • Prepare responses to regulatory inquiries
  • Assist in litigation matters
  • Research, track, and report on industry, commercial, insurance regulatory, privacy and other laws, regulations, and developments to give the most effective advice, including identification of potential risks or impact on business strategy
  • Concisely explain legal terms, identify related risks, and recommend tactics to achieve the most favorable, risk-mitigated results
  • Partner with other members of the Legal, Compliance and Risk team to implement compliance initiatives, including assessments of applicable laws and regulations
  • Be a utility player, taking on opportunities and adding value in practice areas beyond the Policygenius marketplace, including assisting other members of the Legal, Compliance and Risk team on a variety of special projects, as needed
