Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of research or related experience are required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access is required.
  • A driver's license is required.
  • The ability to work independently and make decisions with greater independence is required.
  • The ability to work with study subjects and their household members is required.
  • The ability to work occasional nights and weekends is required.
  • Flexibility to shift the work schedule based on workflow and subject appointment cancellations or rescheduling is required.
  • The position requires attention to detail, organization, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
Responsibilities
  • Determine subject eligibility through detailed review of medical charts using EPIC and assemble study enrollment packets.
  • Approach all eligible subjects every weekday and obtain informed consent.
  • Collect multiple sets of human or environmental specimens on two hospital units, including nose, throat, and groin swabs and hand cultures.
  • Abstract medical charts using multiple hospital databases, including patient demographics, clinical and laboratory data, vital signs, and medications.
  • Enter data into the study database and perform database management.
  • Coordinate biological specimen collection and transport, including labeling and organizing specimens.
  • Attend web-based or in-person meetings to discuss data.
  • Assist in managing multiple clinical trials and coordinating screening and enrollment for federally funded studies.
  • Coordinate study operations, ensure protocol compliance, maintain patient and data tracking systems, and participate in developing study materials and procedures.
  • Coordinate study activities with research laboratory and data management staff.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Clinical experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical abbreviations and antibiotics is a plus.
  • Familiarity with REDCap and hospital databases such as EPIC is preferred.
  • Access to a car is a plus.
