Information Technology Intern
Hybrid (Mountain View, CA or Palo Alto, CA or Toronto, Canada) 

Groq’s Summer Internship Program runs from May - September and is full-time during the duration of the internship.

Mission: At Groq IT, we’re superb troubleshooters with a wide range of tools in our toolkit. We handle “traditional” systems administration tasks, development of internal tools and automation to make our work better, office/lab support, and general troubleshooting of a wide range of systems. We leverage as much SaaS as possible, so we’re constantly forging connections between disparate systems while looking for ways to eliminate technical debt. We support Linux, macOS and Windows in our mission to support a wide range of needs across Groq. 

An internship with the Information Technology group at Groq offers several opportunities, from those who want to work in Systems Administration to Application Development. In IT, we strive for as much automation as possible for our internal tools and for external connections, and we have several projects as well as ad hoc activities to keep us occupied.

Responsibilities & opportunities in this role:

• Support Groq’s diverse IT needs, from laptop provisioning/logistics, onboarding/offboarding automation, systems administration to on-demand troubleshooting of issues
• Help support Linux, macOS and Windows systems as they integrate with our Identity Management and Configuration Management tools
• Work closely with Information Security to maintain a secure environment
• Develop and maintain familiarity with GCP services, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL,  and Cloud Storage
• Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams
• Potential Project: Develop a web application for tracking staff lifecycle (onboarding, offboarding, equipment shipments/swaps/returns)
• Potential Project: Migration of existing Salt infrastructure to Ansible
• Potential Project: Automation of equipment provisioning and reporting with our Logistics partner

Ideal candidates have/are:

• Familiarity with general system administration concepts, including package management, networking, and file systems
• Basic competency in scripting and/or application development
• Interest in IT operations, automation, OS management and general troubleshooting
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a service-oriented attitude.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States or Canada.

Compensation: The US pay range for our technical internships is $30-$50 / per hour. The US pay range for our non-technical internships is $30-$40 / per hour. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience, country of internship and aligned with Groq’s internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks. #LI-DNI
