Responsibilities
  • Plan and perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on plumbing systems
  • Maintain the inspection backflow preventer and boilers database
  • Be available in the event of school closings, delays, shutdowns, and emergencies
  • Perform snow removal activities as assigned
  • Report to work at the required time and perform duties as assigned by the Plumber III/ Lead and/or Plumbing Supervisor
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties
  • Work with a harness and lanyard if operating aerial lifts
  • Have working knowledge of all plumbing systems and ability to install, repair and maintain all types of plumbing systems
  • Install various types of plumbing fixtures
  • Follow direction from Master Plumber/ Supervisor
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings using various tools and equipment
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks
  • Read blueprints and drawings to determine specifications for plumbing system installation
  • Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports
  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures
  • Coordinate with project manager on installation
  • Ensure legislation and policies are met and that systems are up to code
  • Ensure systems meet all standards of building codes and safety
  • Cut openings in structures in preparation for pipes
  • Select materials needed for installation
  • Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle
  • Observe pressure gauges to fix leaks
  • Test pipe systems and fix leaks
  • Repair and maintain water treatment equipment
  • Perform scheduled maintenance
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded
  • Remain abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks
  • Work effectively as a team member
