Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5+ years experience building distributed systems and/or infrastructure tooling
- 3+ years of people management experience
- Proficiency with Go, Typescript, Python, data stores - MySQL, Redis and message queues - Kafka, RabbitMQ, or any similar technology
- Self-learner attitude, independent with outstanding problem-solving skills
- Customer-centric approach. ASAPP's developers are the Platform team's customers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Very comfortable with all aspects of backend engineering and methodologies like coding, testing, observability
- 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies like AWS or Kubernetes
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for growing and developing a distributed team of engineers (SMEs and generalists) to create frameworks, services and tooling to increase productivity, quality and joy of development across ASAPP
- Set the strategic short/mid/long term roadmap for the platform team to solve the most pressing challenges at ASAPP and execute cross functional projects to achieve these solutions
- Play a critical function in capacity building and planning
- Actively mentor junior engineers
- Raise the bar of ASAPP's engineering culture
- Foster a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies ASAPP's values
