  • Graduate from an accredited and approved school of nursing accepted for licensure in the state of practice.
  • Hold a Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
  • Hold Basic Life Support certification.
  • For Wisconsin practice, hold a valid multi-state Registered Nurse license as outlined in the Nurse Licensure Compact rules.
Responsibilities
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process and collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Supervise assigned team members.
  • Promote patients' independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching patients, friends, and families about conditions, medications, and self-care skills, and answering questions.
  • Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments, and following nursing philosophies and standards of care set by the state board of nursing, the state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
