Papa Johns teams up with Disney and Pixar for Toy Story 5. DUBAI, UAE / MENA Newswire / - Restaurant operator Papa Johns announced a major commercial partnership on Wednesday as Papa Johns teams up with Disney and Pixar for the release of Toy Story 5 across global markets. The promotional initiative marks the first time in the history of the animated film franchise that a major pizza delivery brand has secured an official partnership for a theatrical movie release. Designed to align with the upcoming worldwide premiere of the film on June 19, the joint campaign introduces specialized menu offerings, limited-edition merchandise drops, immersive experiential pop-up locations, and custom animation created specifically for international audiences. Under the agreement executed with media conglomerate The Walt Disney Company, participating restaurant locations will launch three limited-time personal pizzas inspired by iconic characters from the feature film. The promotional menu features the Space Ranger Roni topped with double pepperoni, the Sheriff's Round Up featuring barbecue sauce and grilled chicken, and Reach for the Pie topped with Italian sausage and banana peppers. Additionally, locations in the United States will introduce a custom Rootin' Tootin' Ranch Dip cup. The campaign includes collectible character items featuring Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie, available alongside eligible menu purchases across 43 participating global territories. Executive leadership from both corporate entities emphasized the strategic alignment between family dining traditions and entertainment properties during joint launch announcements. Chief Marketing Officer Jenna Bromberg stated that uniting the brand with the animated franchise creates an authentic connection for consumers sharing meals during movie outings. Senior Vice President and General Manager of International Chris Lyn-Sue confirmed that the initiative represents one of the largest international promotional tie-ins in company history. Executive Vice President of Partnerships at The Walt Disney Studios Lylle Breier noted that the multi-platform collaboration offers fans interactive cultural experiences that extend beyond traditional theater screenings. Pixar Animation Studios produces custom commercial spot for campaign. To enhance consumer engagement, the campaign incorporates physical experiential activations designed after the iconic fictional restaurant featured in the original 1995 film. Interactive pop-up venues operating under the Papa Johns Pizza Planet name will open across major international metropolitan centers, including Los Angeles, London, Seoul, and Madrid. These retro-style arcade locations feature interactive games, exclusive merchandise drops, themed food offerings, and custom set decorations celebrating the new movie. Furthermore, creative teams at Pixar Animation Studios produced a dedicated custom-animated commercial spot to support the broader 360-degree global media distribution strategy. The corporate promotion arrives as Papa Johns continues expanding its global retail footprint, which currently encompasses more than 6,000 restaurant locations operating across approximately 50 countries and territories worldwide. Company disclosures highlight that all promotional pizza varieties utilize the brand's original six-ingredient fresh dough, maintaining menu standards that eliminate artificial flavors and synthetic colors. Corporate leadership confirmed that the integrated marketing campaign incorporates digital customer engagement tools, including an interactive mobile application game where users unlock digital rewards, promotional discounts, and exclusive collectible items throughout the active campaign window. Custom menu offerings include character inspired personal pizzas. The upcoming theatrical feature represents the fifth mainline installment in the thirty-year-old animated film franchise, directed by Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton and co-directed by Kenna Harris. The film's narrative centers on traditional toys facing technological disruption from a newly introduced tablet device named Lilypad. Veteran voice actors Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack return to reprise their roles alongside newcomer Greta Lee. As Papa Johns teams up with Disney and Pixar for the release of Toy Story 5, customer menu availability and promotional activations are scheduled to run continuously through July 19. The multi-channel marketing push establishes a comprehensive promotional framework spanning physical retail stores, digital application platforms, live event venues, and international broadcast networks. By coordinating product distribution, experiential events, and original animation, both corporate entities aim to maximize consumer reach across multiple demographic sectors throughout the primary summer theatrical release period. Industry analysts note that large-scale entertainment partnerships allow restaurant chains to drive customer traffic during competitive seasonal windows while strengthening brand affinity through shared cultural nostalgia. National Geographic unveils trailer for epic wildlife series LION. Time to Read: 2 min - 427 words Jon Favreau executive produces four-part drama following a lion cub's extraordinary rise to king, with a score by Hans Zimmer. National Geographic has released the official trailer for LION, an ambitious four-part natural history event series chronicling the remarkable true story of a lion cub named Kio as he grows from a vulnerable youngster into the king of the Maasai Mara. Executive produced by Disney Legend and The Lion King director Jon Favreau alongside BBC Studios Natural History Unit Creative Director Mike Gunton (Planet Earth II, Dynasties), the series combines cinematic storytelling with documentary filmmaking to create what National Geographic describes as a real-life wildlife drama. Narrated by O.J. Lynch, who plays Mufasa in The Lion King stage production, LION follows Kio over four years, documenting his extraordinary journey through family conflict, survival and leadership in Kenya's Maasai Mara. The series marks the first natural history production to capture a lion's complete story from cub to adulthood. Filmed over four years, the production team spent almost 1,400 days in the field across 52 separate shoots, the longest dedicated filming effort ever focused on a single lion pride. Speaking about the project, Jon Favreau said: "After tracking the lions in the field for four years, the pride never ceased to surprise us - what Kio endures and eventually becomes is extraordinary. Watching the hero's journey against the backdrop of nature was incredible to witness." The series features an original score led by Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, alongside Niccolò Pacella and George Huston Warren for Bleeding Fingers Music. Drawing inspiration from recordings made in the Maasai Mara, the soundtrack incorporates local singers, traditional instruments and even lion roars, while subtly referencing themes from The Lion King. Additional vocals are provided by the Nairobi Chamber Chorus, with the main theme co-composed by Lebo M., Andrew Christie and Zimmer. The soundtrack will be released by Hollywood Records on 21 August across major streaming platforms. Alongside the series launch, Disney is continuing its Protect the Pride conservation campaign in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Network's Lion Recovery Fund. Since launching in 2019, Disney says it has invested more than $5 million in lion conservation projects, supporting over 400 initiatives across 26 African countries with the aim of helping to double the global wild lion population by 2050. Produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit for National Geographic, LION premieres on Thursday 20 August, airing in two weekly double bills at 8pm and 9pm on National Geographic. All four episodes will also be available to stream on Disney+ from the same day.
