- Perform conductor selection.
- Make structure recommendations.
- Perform insulation, alternating-current interference, static-wire, and grounding studies.
- Develop transmission-line plans and profiles and cross-section details.
- Use LiDAR and aerial-photo data.
- Use wetlands, vernal-pool, and sensitive-resource data in line and structure design and placement.
- Prepare detailed estimates and probability modeling.
- Complete other studies required for the projects.
- Lead overall transmission-line design for all capital projects.
- Review and design transmission-line plan and profile drawings using PLS-CADD to ensure compliance with AVANGRID transmission-management standards, the National Electrical Safety Code, and other standards.
- Drive the project plan for transmission-line routing and strategy.
- Decide whether to rebuild existing lines or obtain additional right of way based on area congestion and local political and permitting issues.
- Determine required structure designs based on design constraints.
- Determine routing in and around congested stations to optimize design and reliability and minimize crossings.

LaBella Associates has acquired Prestige Environmental Inc., a Somerset, New Jersey-based environmental consulting firm, expanding its presence in the tri-state region. The acquisition adds municipal relationships and environmental expertise to the Rochester-based multidisciplinary firm's capabilities. Prestige Environmental, founded in 1993, specialises in environmental due diligence, waste management and remediation for public-sector projects. The firm employs engineers, geologists and environmental professionals experienced in regulatory compliance. LaBella, which operates offices across 14 states with over 2,000 consultants, provides infrastructure, buildings, environmental and energy expertise throughout the eastern US, UK and Spain. This marks the company's eighth acquisition in 41 months across sectors including architecture, surveying and environmental services.

Daniel Brooks presenting at the 2026 VRA/SWANA Annual Conference. LaBella's Sustainability Manager Daniel Brooks, AHMM(R), will be speaking at the 2026 VRA/SWANA Annual Conference taking place April 8-10, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The event is co-hosted by the Virginia Recycling Association (VRA) and the Old Dominion Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). On Friday, April 10, at 10:15 a.m., Daniel will present "Lithium Battery Safety," which will provide an overview of basic battery chemistries, types, and how they differ. The session will also cover key battery hazards such as short-circuiting and thermal runaway, along with how to recognize signs of damaged, defective, or recalled (DDR) batteries. In addition, attendees will gain insight into training requirements, emergency response, and first aid procedures necessary to ensure personnel safety in the event of a release, fire, or exposure.
