Business Intelligence Analyst

Ignite Reading delivers one-to-one virtual tutoring that teaches every student the foundational skills they need to become a confident, fluent reader. We pair students who need extra support with expert reading tutors who provide daily, 15-minute, Science of Reading-based instruction that rapidly closes their decoding gaps. We focus on the foundational reading skills—phonics, phonemic awareness, and sight words—kids need to master so they can decode a sentence. Students in Ignite Reading’s program achieve over 2 weeks of reading skills growth per week of instruction, and notably all students achieve the same outstanding results including students with IEPs, multilingual learners, students of color and those receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Your Role

As a BI Analyst III, you will serve as an advanced member of our Data & Analytics team. You will build scalable dashboards, write advanced SQL queries, and proactively identify opportunities to improve reporting systems. You will translate complex business needs into actionable insights, lead BI projects, and serve as a thought partner across teams.

Additionally, this role requires light- to medium-weight Python scripting, leveraging LLMs to optimize workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and improve reporting efficiency.

You will work closely with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure Ignite Reading has reliable, accurate, and actionable data to drive decisions that help students learn to read.

Key Responsibilities

Business Intelligence

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and translate business requirements into actionable dashboards and reports.

• Build user-centric, intuitive Tableau dashboards optimized for scalability and performance.

• Identify gaps in reporting and suggest improvements to existing BI solutions.

• Lead and own BI projects with cross-functional impact.

• Write light to medium Python scripts to automate and optimize reporting workflows.

Data Engineering

• Troubleshoot data-related issues and provide timely resolution.

• Write SQL queries (including CTEs, window functions, and joins) to analyze & validate data

• Enhance dbt models with modular transformations in coordination with Data Engineering.

Qualifications

• Strong quantitative & problem solving skills as demonstrated by prior work experience.

• Proficient in developing Tableau dashboards & data sources.

• Proficient in writing and streamlining SQL queries.

• Experience in Python.

• Organized, attentive to detail, and process-oriented.

• Adept at gathering & refining business requirements across different business units and stakeholders at different levels.

• Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Comfortable in a high-growth startup-like environment: you’re resourceful, calm under pressure, and welcome with ambiguity and change.

Salary: $100,000
