  • A current Registered Nurse license in the State of Illinois is required.
  • Healthcare Provider or Instructor Basic Life Support certification is required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the manager with planning, education, and implementation of process improvements.
  • Perform safety audits to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Perform chart audits to validate compliance with care protocols and documentation standards.
  • Assist the manager with review of policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate unit-specific orientation of new colleagues and monitor their progress after orientation is complete.
  • Facilitate colleague participation in development of unit goals.
  • Represent the acute care unit at specific committees as assigned.
  • Assist with investigation, follow-through, and process improvement related to Sensor reports.
  • Serve as coach and mentor to colleagues in clinical and secretarial roles.
  • Maintain clinical excellence by participating in patient care and regularly serving as staff nurse.
  • Facilitate colleague education and participation at hospital events.
  • Foster teamwork within the department and across departments.
  • Provide input into colleague performance appraisals.
  • Assist the manager in preparation of the unit budget by providing input into needed supplies and equipment.
  • Work with the manager to develop plans addressing colleague concerns identified by the Employee Opinion Survey.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure work schedules are complete and appropriate while using a self-schedule method.
  • Work with the manager to ensure staffing is appropriate each shift based on patient quantity and acuity and the skill level of scheduled colleagues, making adjustments as needed.
  • Work with the manager to ensure pertinent information is shared with all colleagues.
  • Work closely with the manager, colleagues, and physicians to identify opportunities to improve and facilitate patient satisfaction.
  • Perform patient rounds to ensure patient satisfaction and address concerns related to the plan and provision of care before discharge.
  • Perform other related work as required or requested.
