- Track statute of limitation deadlines.
- Perform background research in preparation for filing complaints, including TLO, Department of Motor Vehicles research, and private investigator research.
- Prepare ancillary documents to file complaints, including summonses, civil case cover sheets, and jury fees.
- Send all defendants for service after filing returns from court.
- Use Superior Court websites to obtain case and docket information.
- Manage the team calendar.
- Schedule remote appearances and motion hearings for attorneys.
- Calendar and save mail.
- Ensure that a consistent naming system is followed when saving documents to files.
- Send documents to clients for review and signature via DocuSign or courier service.
- Mail documents via United States Postal Service mail and certified return receipt as needed.
- Maintain, organize, and sort files; send files for shredding or closing.
- Scan documents and old files in preparation for shredding.
- Propound initial discovery on all parties.
- At the direction of attorneys, prepare and send supplemental discovery.
- Escalate litigation issues and motions to attorneys.
- Send deposition transcripts to clients for review and signature.
- Request electronic copies of deposition transcripts.
- When deposition transcripts arrive, obtain digital copies and save them to the file.
- Provide status updates to medical providers as needed by form or telephone call.
- Review cases monthly to determine whether discovery responses were received and send follow-up letters to defense counsel when responses are missing.
- Handle client relations and coordinate deposition and discovery completion dates with clients.
- Assist the litigation attorney with necessary tasks.
- Paralegal Certification is a plus.
- Prior experience with Google Suite is a plus.
