Requirements
  • Two (2) years of occupational experience, or comparable experience and education in the area of traffic safety or a related field.
  • Monitor the Wisconsin Technical College general traffic safety course and have completed a one semester, 45 hours, traffic safety studies or accident prevention course.
  • A valid driver license.
  • A satisfactory driver record.
  • To be certified as a group dynamics instructor, applicants must meet at least 2 of the 3 subsections, including (1) (a), (2) (a) or (3) (a) at the time of application.
  • Traffic Safety experience equal to two years of occupational experience, or comparable experience and education in the area of traffic safety or a related field for Group Dynamics and Multiple Offenders; Monitor the Wisconsin Technical College general traffic safety course and have completed a one semester, 45 hours, traffic safety studies or accident prevention course for Group Dynamics and Multiple Offenders.
  • AODA experience equal to two years of occupational experience or comparable experience and education in AODA counseling, education, or treatment related fields; Completed a minimum of 45 hours in an accredited college level course in the area of AODA education or treatment for Group Dynamics and Multiple Offenders.
  • Group Process experience equal to two years of occupational experience in group process work or group counseling as a treatment or education professional; Completed a minimum of 45 hours in an accredited college level course in the area of group work methods, group counseling or group process for Group Dynamics and Multiple Offenders.
  • Teach at least three group dynamics courses in their entirety or have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in guidance and counseling, psychology, behavioral studies or social work.
  • Maintainability: A valid driver license.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driver record.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for classroom instruction in traffic/highway safety.
  • Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies.
  • Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, course content, and other academic matters.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide regular feedback.
  • Integrate the use of technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Design and implement strategies to engage students in the learning process.
  • Function in a team environment with the ability to support a cohesive department atmosphere.
  • Comply with college policies and directions regarding submitting grades, recordkeeping, and maintaining office hours for student assistance.
  • Participate in all mandatory Safety Education and Department of Transportation workshops and in-service training activities.
  • Adhere to the procedures established by the Safety Education Program and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
  • Plan and implement professional development strategies to continually improve teaching and professional experience.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driver record.
  • Comply with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the college values of excellence, respect and integrity.
